I got the headlights put together today, a successful pairing of the Packard and Indian buckets. (I had no idea how this would turn out, could have ruined all four headlight buckets ) Other than a small V cut to the bottom of the Packard bucket for access to the screw for the Indian trim ring, all mods to the Packard buckets were done with a hammer and dolly. Once I got the right shape, I welded the Indian buckets to the front, then cut out the backside. By keeping the Indian bucket whole when welding it in, it kept them from distorting, so the trim ring still fits right. In the pic with it sitting on the fender, it will get mounted farther forward once I make the new pedestals. The original pedestal the light is sitting on on the bench was too tall to start with and now the grille is sectioned 3", it really needs to come down..... next project.

I didn't think it possible to outdo the Cadillac... but you prove me wrong again.

Thanks all for the kind words, it helps keep me motorvated....:)

Started making the new headlight pedestals. I made patterns off the originals for the top and bottom surfaces and reproduced them in 1/8" plate. They are tacked together at this point to assess their position and after looking at it some more, I think they are pointing a bit high, just need to tip the front down a bit. Once they are right, I'll sheet in the sides with 16 ga. Approximate height of the new pedestals is 3 1/2" lower than stock.

OK, time for some outdoor pics to see if things are looking right - hard to tell sometimes just eyeballing it in the dingy garage.....
