As much as I love tail fins...I love the swoopy lines you have going with this thing even more! IMO the only thing that butt needs is a cool license plate surround with some "Dagmars" for the cracklin' exhaust to exit through!
But that's just me. I'm betting I'll still love this car whatever you choose. [dr
You asked for opinions and I have a strong one about that - bluntly... NO! I spent a lot of time and effort trying to avoid the fin look on my 48. In my opinion fins on a hump back are a compromise for those unwilling to do the extra work of getting the roof line right. Or at best a solution of last resort. ...drop the rear deck and it makes the fenders fins. Uhg! (I could go off on a rant about it)
Way cooler body lines without 'em.
I'm not a real big fan of the 46 Olds lights either though. How about 41 Caddy lights? Or even 47 Caddy lights? Even the 48 Olds lights if you can find them. Some of the 49 and on Olds lights look good too.
I'm of the other camp where when I look at the rear of the hump back from the side it looks like the rear fenders were mounted about 4-5" too low on the car. The hump back just makes it look like a hunch back or mongoloid looking thing. The fins would give the illusion of the fenders being higher up on the car. Just my $.02 [P
Well I do not like the back of my car at all. I like the sweeping lines of a fast back and not the hump back style for this car. I want the lines to continue to the floor so I started with the bumperetts an bought them in close the olds license plate bridge It is going to be grafted in to the 56 Victoria bumper guards and made to a bridge. So I am going build a tail dragger and she needs a tail.
I used the bumper brakets from the olds bumper and the ford and hung it where I like it. Now just fill in the blanks. The fenders will be grafted in and a filler pan will be made.
I like the direction this is moving! I've run into the same thing on the front and back of my 50 Chevy... I wish I would have found a fast back, I really like those lines, but I'll work with what I have...
Thanks for the photos on the bumper bracket... I have been trying to figure out how I was going to hang my front bumper.... and NOW... I know
