HOLY CRAP Carnut, this is really getting interesting now......
I like where this is going
I understand this, sometimes you just need a little tail to
make it all better.....ha

I have a theory, that the main reason that '40's cars were slower to catch the hotrodders eye and imagination, is beacause most people think this decade of cars should hang in the front;..... wrong, wrong, wrong. They should be tail-draggers. You have the situation nailed, so you are a way out in front of the rest of us.[cl[cl[cl Keep on tinkering.

[S I don't follow that one Mac...

After looking at those last pics, I'm going to back off my opinion on the fins. I forgot you didn't lower the trunk lid so the fins don't stick out above the trunk line any more than the stock Caddy of those years.

Snopro, Here's what I mean. This '47 is a chopped short-door with no fenderskirts, yet. They are in my dream. This is a tail-dragger even if the grass is a little tall.
See now you beleive my theory, right?

Sorry Carnut about taking over your thread.

funny thing Mac, I see a gasser body when I look at your rendering...Maybe I'm the weird kid on the bus...:D

Carnut - I'm liking the direction this is heading...my comment above is just an alternative theory.

bumper bridge

Mak you are visualizing what I am seeing. I want to build a car that nobody has built by using parts from the 40s and 50s I enjoy the search for the right part. I also want to combine them and achieve a unique appearance. The body is going to be molded to the bumper and give the the car some flow. A tail for the dragger. All or nothing. Here is my license plate bridge, I used the bridge from the olds and the ford guards.

This is going to be a work of art... My vision of my 50 Chevy is similar minus the tail dragger... at least until I saw your build and you started corrupting my plans :p

Great work! Swing by the build of my 50 chevy if you get a chance and you will see the 55 buick bumper I'm planning on running in the front:D

Fat Fenders

I am widening the back by widening the fenders. I tacked the front to the cab and the back 2'' wider it tapers out very nice. Now I need to fill in the gaps. Then I can graft my tail to the car.
