It should do OK although it is basically a low compression smog motor with some porting and a few bolt on goodies. It'll be plenty for what I want to do which is cruising the car shows and a few smoky burnouts.

I got the alternator brackets made; I decided to go with a GM alternator so Id have an internal regulator. I also pulled the fuel pump for the SHO motor out of the tank and replaced it with a straight 3/8" line and will mount an external pump. As soon as i get the fuel line run and the pump mounted, it should be ready for a short test fire.

I cut down the original column today and made a piece to hold a lower bearing. I'm moving the column over and down a bit which is ok because now it's centered with the gauges. It looks like I will get by with just two u-joints; one at the end of the column and one on the rack. Now I need to build a column drop and cut the shaft for a trial fit.

Thanks! I got the column drop finished and did a trial fit on the shaft. Everything clears, I should be in good shape. I made a floor plate for the lower column mounts, then pulled it all back apart for some touch up paint.

Done, all back together and turns smooth with no binding. Not sure if I can use the steering wheel; now that I lowered it, it might be too big and be sitting right on my lap. I'll know when I put the seat in. Should be able to put the front clip back on next and start piping the cooling system.

Thanks, Bob. Our car show season starts the last week of March; I plan to have it ready for then. I took a weeks vacation in March to do a blitz on it and get a lot of things wrapped up.

I got the front clip back on in the last couple of days and have been working on little things like getting the shift cable mounts lined out, changed the leaky pinion seal, plus other misc items. I really lucked out; I was afraid the inner fender wells I built for the SHO motor wouldn't fit around the Mopar engine but they worked out great.

I had a week off of work and wrapped a lot of things up. Radiator is in, all my carb linkages are built and installed, trans cooler in, exhaust in, plus a ton of other little things. I hope to drop the drive shaft off tomorrow at the shop to be shortened and start putting the interior back in. The big frustration has been this remote oil filter. I've been chasing little leaks on the braided lines and the adapter; get one fixed and another one starts. It's been apart and back together about 4 times and I found another little one today. I'm just about ready to toss it in the trash and try something else.

Other than that, I should be ready for cruising by the end of the month.

I hoping to wrap up the last few details this coming weekend and do a road test. I've got the drive shaft in, most of the interior in, and the last few wiring details wrapped up. All I need to do is do the cam break in, set the timing, throw the hood back on, and a few other small things. I ran it for the first time with the exhaust on it today for a couple minutes and it sounds great; much better than the little V6. Wish I had done this in the first place.
