Glad to see you back, your truck popped into my head a few days ago and I was wondering if you hit the road with it. Haven't seen it around, maybe we'll cross paths this summer. As some noticed I have been absent from the forum. No good reason. Just very busy and a few life changes. I retired in August 2024 and have more time…. Kinda!
The 49 Ford is currently getting an updated transmission. Going from the original straight cut, non-synchronized manual to a Ford AOD.
The manual is a bitch in city traffic with double clutching and downshift issues. Issue is with me the driver!
The AOD will make the truck easier to sell because more than 2 people in Canada will be able to drive it! There may be more than 2 but I’m not going to canvas the nursing home crowd.
Speedway adapter kit. Lobar shifter and park brake hardware. Lobar throttle valve cable. Welder series cross member kit.
Truck is up un 4 foot jack stands. Transmission and clutch assembly removed. Adapter plate is bolted to the flathead. Need a break in weather as it turned cold again.
One other modification a couple years ago was a carburetor change from stock to a stromberg 97 which works better and will make it easy to adapt the AOD TV cable.
Will try and get some photos uploaded.
