unless someone has some cool ideas of how to get rid of the smoke smell...I'm all ears! I was thinking maybe taking off the leather if possible and febreezing the cushions then taking simple green to the leather

ha yeah i figure there will be smells of exhaust in there but NH has exhaust laws it has to exit behind the cab i think so not that bad

although being funny that reminds me I need to find someone who knows the laws in NH because even after reading all the stuff the state sent me It is very vague and I want to build my rig legal so I don't have to worry about it once its finished. I mean like chop amount open fender laws and exhaust laws just to mention a few.

finally got the bed off and the bondo filled fenders off, the frame is solid just minor surface rust so I think my plan to go crazy with a new frame is going to be on my next build. I'm thinking of basically using this one to get my feet wet and go almost stock only with open fenders then go a bit more extreme on the next project. That being said I have to strip down the frame and probably por15 it then possibly bedline it after that just to help it hold up to our wonderful salty roads up here in NH. I also got the headlights out of the lincoln and cut them appart to put them into the 28 headlight buckets I have.

Not much production wise but I have met my new girls grandfather and he is into old cars and has 3 restored in his garage. Now I have that guy I can go listen to for advise and help building mine. He isn't into rat rods but seems interested enough to help me build one because its different than his usual. He is bringing me to his car clubs garage and meeting this weekend so I can meet some more of his car building buddies too. This is great motivation for me!

Back to collecting parts for the old binder ... I just bought a house so funds are low but I will have a garage now that I can work in all winter so I am gonna grab up some parts when I can and get back to actually putting good hours in

If ya really want a COOL idea for getting rid of smoke, snag yourself a hydroxyl generator, or an ozone generator. They are used in fire restoration to get rid of the smoke smell after all the soot is cleaned up.
I've heard you can rent them but don't know for how much.
Setup a containment (or leave them in the cab of the truck with all the windows up), plug in the generator and let it sit for a couple days.
Bam! No more smoke smell!

I got a guy I work with that got a screamin deal on a new/used pickup cause the dealer couldn't get rid of the smoke smell. He put one in for a weekend and now you can't even tell it was ever smoked in.

PS, you do not want to occupy the space while you are treating.

man rr your build is crazy I like it alot another build with a ton of good ideas. My biggest problem is lack of experience on building rats and this is going to be pretty much a ground up build so its gonna be a challenge but one im more than willing to take on

There honostly can be no bigger non mechanical person on this board than I. I love cars and try n help all i can but i have hardly any skills. Now im a good planner and have good ideas but hands on im not good.
ive learned a bit and i try so i guess thats something. RR

well I'm finally back to work on the truck. I found that a welder at work is into building old cars and have teamed up with him to help me with the welding and build. And the fact that he has a heated garage is a big plus too! We got the body off the frame and found a donor roof to replace the rotted out window frame areas and not as big of a tree dent on top. Then we chopped it 6in and started the welding.

yeah I think we are going to keep it in there, but I'm going to have to cut out some of it to get a hammer and dolly on that dent to get it a bit better than it is now.

got all the efi and smog stuff off the motor and ordered up the intake manifold and carb from summit , got it yesterday so I think we will put it together sunday if time allows. Not sure how I feel about the chrome filter cover tho...that may have to disappear
