I walk in circles as it is DR[S

Got the leg fixed and hopefully the sore back from the fall will start to quiet down as well.
The leg tech took one look at it and said"I'm impressed". I have broken everything from Titainium Bolts to Kevlar recepticles to Stainless steel pylons. And pretty much everything in between.
They just keep on upgrading the components.
Torchie.

Sounds like you need the heavy duty model! No more falling sir!
Hope you are doing ok!

Leg is fixed. But the back. Well that's another story...

That's usually my one rule DR . No falling.

Got back out to the shop and started to mock up the rear half of the truck.
1st pic shows the fenders mounted on the bed sides at the stock position as well as the bed in the stock height compared to the cab.
I just ain't dig'n it!

2nd Pic show the box moved up closer to the belt Line and the fenders still pretty close to stock height but move forward a couple of inch's to center the tire better.
Getting warmer!!

3rd pic shows the bed sides level with the body line on the cab.
The fender is moved up more and still moved forward.
Don't forget that I will be using running boards so they will fill in the area under the cab.
Better yet!!!

4th pic gives a 3/4 profile wlth the bed top level with the cab body line. I like this look as it gives a nice horizontal line starting at the front of the truck, going thru the cab and on to the end of the bed. What I don't like (at least not yet) is the fact that the top of the front fenders at the headlights are higher than the top of the rear fenders.
Unfortunately I moved all my equipment back before I took a full side profile pic.

So tomorrows plan is to shoot a side profile pic as is, then move the rear fenders up to the stock height on the bed sides and possibly start the fitment of the running board.
Thanks for looking in...
Torchie.

Torchie, you can see into the future. You can see what will work to make this a dang fine truck, the chop, the '41 frontend, and shuffling the box and fenders around all add to it's good looks.
You, keep on tinkering, mister.

This is going to be a 2 part post.......

Thanks for all the positive comments gang.
Here's todays effort.....
1st pic as promised. Profile shot of the truck as it now sits. Unchanged from last post -pics 3 and 4.

2nd pic shows the fender height difference that I was refering too. Not that it's bad. Just not where I want it to be.

3rd pic show what the running board angle would look like with the rear of the board mounted at the stock fender location. And the front lined up with the 41 front fender mounting spot.
I really don't like that.

4th pic shows that I could remedy that angle somewhat by mounting the RB under the front fender edge. But as well. Not what I had in mind.

So continue on to the next post to see the changes that I've made......
Torchie.

Current post. Part 2

1st pic in the post shows that I raised the rear fenders up about an inch and a half. Slightly more in the rear than the front. Rear Fenders now sit more square.[S If you look close you can see that the rear fender is now just slightly lower than the stock mounting position. Hard to tell from this pic but the rear tire is still centered in the opening as well.
Plus the fender top line from front to back is closer to being level.. So far so good.

2nd pic shows the new running board angle with both ends of the RB mounted where I want them to be.

3rd pic shows the truck as it currently sits with the changes made. I threw some hub caps on just for fun and sprayed the mock RB black.

4th pic. Just another angle. I'm thinking this is it!

At this point the trucks sits just about the height of a long neck E+B bottle.
I know that this is not as low as the current trends but the main purpose of this is to get the sheet metal lined up. If I go any lower it will be via suspension mods or tire size.
So now I will live with this for a few days, just taking a look at it when ever I let the dogs out.
As always questions and or comments are welcome.
Thanks for looking!
Torchie.

I like the way it looks now. I agree with your idea that the body of the cab and the top of the bed should match and the tops of the fenders should be on the same plain and parallel with the body line of the cab. It looks excellent.

Unfortunately no progress to report:mad:
But on a brighter note.
To all of you and yours a Very Safe and Merry Christmas. :):):):)

Now the slope of the front fenders looks a little wrong :)

Is it possible to lower the front of the front fenders a little bit? or raise the rear of the front fenders?

attachment.php

Raise the rear of the fronts a tad, also looks like the bed is lower in the back than the front?

Or lower the nose a tad?

Now that I look again, defiantly lower the nose a bit.

Please bear in mind that at this point nothing is attached....

Yes it is possible to do both. Most likely the rear of the fenders will come up. The 41 Hood is sitting on the tops of the fenders but the rear edge of the hood is slightly below the level of the cowl.

Don't be confused Bam. The rear of the box is slightly lower. Just couldnt lay my hands on one more shim.:)

Still lots of adjustment to do guys. Just wanted to get it close so I can get a feel for the big Picture.
The nose could be high or perhaps the rear is low:eek:
All has yet to be revealed:)
That's one of the reason that I post these pics. It's hard to stand back and line things up when you are holding up a fender looking for a piece of wood for a block;)
Thanks for looking in and have a great Holiday!
Torchie.

Not confused Torchie, I just don't trust my glasses any more!:D I know what you mean about only having two hands and needing a third.

Get the rear up a touch, then take some tape in a contrasting color and pull it from back to front level, a small torpedo level works good for this, and then stick it up front. Now stand back and get the big picture. The tape will give you {and us, LOL} a better perspective.

This truck is so cool, I'm dying to see it all together! [cl Wish I had your vision and skills!

You mean kind of like this pic I posted 4 or 5 posts back Bam.:):)
I'm digging your build as well. Keep it up.
Torchie.

That is it, but I'd put it at the top of the bed to the hood top. Then another to set the fenders. I used to be a carpenter years ago, used a string line many times to set a wall height or something like that. Guess it rubbed off on me.:D

Thanks for the kudos on the Linc. Right now, it's in money hell.....got a few bills to pay off before I can get some major things done, like finishing the brakes.:( So, I'm plugging away on things that need to be done that be done either free or nearly so. Hoping before spring things get back to normal!

Thats looking pretty sweet Torchie!

Thanks guys.
My plan was to be much like yours gold. Spend some time over the holidays doing some work on the project. But got a call from one of my daughters boyfriends in regards to what is supposed to be her daily ride. So that will take priority.
Got to put an entire front body clip on a Jeep. Which if my experience has taught me anything will be a bit more complicated than what I've been led to believe.
Supposed to have the vehicle towed here tomorrow.
We'll see......
Torchie.
