I'm new to Rat Rods Rule and new to building street rods.
I have a '37 Buick Roadmaster (131"WB, 59 Front Track, 58.5 Rear Track) that I want to turn into a daily driver street rod.
I've seen similar cars on with s10 frame swaps.
1) Can a 122.9" wb s10 chassis can be lengthened to 131"
2) Can a 107" wb 2wd s10 blazer chassis be lengthened to 131"?
Thanks
Gene

Sure, if you have a good enough welder and a pile of steel. I stretched a 85 Cutlass frame 17" to fit my 125"WB Olds.

How about a intro in the Introductions Forum with pics of your car. Very interested in seeing it.

Do a LOT of research before you even think about a S-10 swap on a fat fender era vehicle. You are going to run into serious issues with the steering box location for starters, along with a myriad of other problems.

What is wrong with the stock chassis?

37 Buick on Dakota Frame

Hi Blue Eyed Devil,
I believe the stock chassis is ok but I need to upgrade the entire drive, brakes, and suspension. My thought is that with the right doner vehicle, an frame swap will be easier than piecing in multiple parts. My '37 Buick Roadmaster has a 131"WB, 59 Front Track, 58.5 Rear Track. The extended bed Dakota has a wheelbase of 130.9, front tracks 60.7 and rear track 59.5.
The Dakota frame wider at the front than the stock frame (Buick 26", Dakota 38" along entire frame) but the Buick frame gets wider behind the engine compartment and I know the Buick body is wider than 50" at the front seats so the frame should fit under the body. I'm exploring buying a running Dakota and swapping the Buick over to that frame. Do you know if the steering box location will be a problem with this swap?
Thanks

The fact is swapping a frame on a car is just as difficult and costly as updating the original when all is done. It will not save you any time, work, headaches, or money.

I did it on my 48 Olds because the floors were rotten from sitting on dirt and I wanted the rockers to drag when I aired out the bags. It was a challenge for sure.
