Project LS-SS come's to my shop this Saturday after the 37 leave's on Friday. I get the body on the rotisserie and then the rolling chassis comes so I can mount the body and parts. This chassis is looking amazing.
Well the 37 is gone and it is officially time to start on the LS-SS. Got it in my shop today. This is going to get interesting now, I need to complete this car in 30 days
Been working on getting the trunk floor flat and getting rid of all the pitts and dents. This one has to be perfect. Firewall and quarters getting there.
Got the color on the bottom. It is called Switch Blade Silver Metallic and it kinda changes color depending on how you look at it.
Way over kill for the underside but that's what he wants.
Last night we got the body back on the chassis for the last time. Now I can get the doors/fenders/hood and deck lid on and finish the body. The whole rolling chassis is sealed in shrink wrap and the underside of the body is covered in plastic so I don't F' up the work that has already been done
The main body is very close to paint time and I got the core support ready(had to fill about 20 unused factory holes) along with one fender. Need to get the last fender done then start the endless hours of really stupid detail/detail/detail sanding
Body is done except for final blocking with 600. Took it back apart and painted the inside of the body and trunk. Ya can't see it in the pics but man this silver really sparkles!
After about 100hrs of detail sanding and moving it all back to the owners shop it is finally painted! Today I will wet sand the clear and put 2 maybe 3 more coats and then done. Wish you guys could see the color in the sun it really is something.
Thanks guys, its been a lot of work. as for the shop it is the owner of the cars shop and we were there till 1:00 Friday night getting it set up like that for painting. But that is pretty much how he keeps it and everything else he has and that should explain a lot about why the Malibu had to be so perfect. He is very very happy with it at this point but you still haven't seen anything yet, its going to get way better believe me.
