My Son Dan's rpu is almost done. [cl Finally, after 5 years he is down to a few small details to get it on the road. In the past couple of weeks we finished up the wiring, plumbed the fuel system, and got all the gauges and switches working. It now starts and runs on the key. Still needs to paint the grille shell and a few minor parts, but that won't take long.

Here is a little video he did tonight. Crank up the speakers! :D

what a beautiful piece of art! but looks like it might be hard to start though-he might wanna work on that!;)[ddd

a really awesome RPU i love it and am sure you are as proud of it as he is--and rightfully so!:cool:

Thanks guys. I had kleenex shoved in my ears and a wool hat pulled down over that to help drown out some of the noise, but my ears were still ringing. What's funny is that when you goose it the entire car torques over. Dan has NO IDEA how hard this thing is going to pull.......I can't wait to see the look on his face the first time he drives it.

What a great feeling huh?[cl
congrats on a beautiful rod!
I heard Dan was engaged to Kat and .......just stirring the pot!:D...cr

Awesome job guys! Oh, a couple o sway bars will cut down on the torque lean. Just not period looking. [cl

Is that a 455 or a 400. If that is an original intake that is sweet and nice peice on there. Rare to have the Olds tri-power. Had one 10 years ago kick myself sometimes for getting rid of it.[cl

Thanks. It's a 455 Olds punched out to 468. The trips are from a 1966 442 Olds W 30............they only made something like 1200 of them before GM put a ban on 3 carbs in production cars in 1967. My other Son Don had these for about 20 years and ran them on his 65 Olds convertible. He got married some time ago and needed money so he sold them to Dan for $ 1000. Recently we've seen ones that need rebuilt and are missing parts on Ebay sell for $ 5000. Don kicks himself quite often for selling the setup to Dan.

The rest of the engine is pretty standard hot rod stuff.......40 over forged Jahns pistons, line bored, decked, Comp Cams 280H cam, reworked Ga heads, Mallory distributor, etc. The torque convertor is a B&M Holeshot with about 2800 stall, and the transmission is a TH350 by Jackson Racing Transmissions. Finally, the rear is a 9 inch Ford with 4:10 TracLok posi and 31 spline axles. It should pull pretty well. :)

You might want to buy a little stock in a tire company of choice, that thing is gonna roast some tires!!!

Ah! Now I see why a top was installed! nothing like chunks-O-hot rubber raining down on your head!:D
