Well I sold my Sheriff truck a month ago.Now its time to start another one. Here's what I have collected in donor parts so far.A 1949 five window Chevy 3100 and a 94 12V Cummins Deisel out of a Dodge 2500 two wheel drive. Now I just have to get busy and get at it.Here's pictures to see how it begins.

I want to take your idea for my 50 GMC 1 1/2T. I want to lay it on a 01-07 silverado chassis. It will have to be widened in the fenders to make it work. Hummm, Maybe a duramax for that one........[;)

After careful consideration I've decided to use a surburban chassis just like I did for my Sheriff truck build. The Dodge 2500 chassis would need more cutting than the surburban frame.I cut it up and put some temporary pieces on it so I could see how the Cummins fit with the cab.I sat the bed on it so I could see how much I need to shorten it.Here's some pics.More later.

you are blessed with southern metal down there. that rig up here would have broken in half by now from rust. look at how clean that frame is!!

Well here's my progress so far. .The 50 Chevrolet cab and bed are sitting on the 1986 surburban frame with the Cummins and tranny is mounted. My plans are to chop the top, lower it down, put in the dually axle and mount two big stacks in the corners of the bed.I split the front fenders so they will fit over the wider wheelbase of the surburban.

Here's some motor pictures.I took some to show the fan clearance. The fan clears the radiator by about 1.5. I'm going to take the fan off and replace it with an electric one. That thing sits high and I'm afraid I will get my hand in it.Its easier to go electric than fab a fan shroud.More pictures later.

That looks cool. I was thinking a 4BT would be neat. Just curious, why not find a 1 1/2 ton front clip that is already wider?

You are correct on the 1.5 fenders are larger, but I like the way it looks with the fenders cut apart and welded back together. Also the wheel openings are larger on the 1.5 ton trucks. Thanks for asking.

When I started this build I wanted it to look similar to my Sheriff truck build.Looking at the pictures of both of them I may be right on track.I decided to split the fenders in a different way. Here's some pics
