There's a guy on You Tube that does things our way. Fitzee is his name.

Are you counting spools of MIG wire?
I've seen a bit of his stuf, bob.

lots of work but worth it in the end
Thanks LB. :) Bringing it back from the dead. One tack at a time. :D [ddd [;) [;) [;)
Fits in with the day. Out with the old. In with the new.
16 Gauge-1 inch square steel tubing.
Give it 2 Torchie grunts to put a bow in it.:D :p
Cut out the smashed area on the Custom body
Trim up the donor piece and tack it in place. Minus the corners.
Cut away more of the old bad and clamp on the new good.
Tack that in as well.
I can live with that.:D
Just because.... Clamped on the splash panel.
My original plan was to fab the weather strip channel as well but the more I cut away the junk the more I realized the channel it's self is solid. If I need to I can splice in good channel from other spots from the donor. Anything I don't have to make is one less thing I have to do.
This entire area will get welded up solid once I have the lower corners in then eventually the splash pan will get welded and moulded in To.
Have a safe and Happy New Year, all.
Keep on keeping on.

Thanks Dozer.:)
Working on the corners todays.
Also adding some internal bracing to these back corners. As you can see in the one pic the trunk floor is mostly gone in this area. This is also close to the rear most body mount so the tubing that I am putting in will really strengthen up the area.
DS corner tacked in. I still need to trim off the rusty bottom edge of this piece.
That's going to be it for today.
Thanks for checking up on me..

Stiff lower lip and all that rot....

First thing to deal with. The trunk lid gap on the PS went wow the closer you get to the bottom. Nothing to do but to cut.Move and re weld. This also took care of a bit of an issue with the trunk lid not fitting the contour of the PS body curve. I took out about a 1/4 of an inch.
A picture for all of us that work alone.:D
Much better fit and gap now.
On to the corner.....
Both the donor piece and the OG piece were to rusty to use.
So back to the donor for some body parts. [ddd
I need a lower PS corner so I used a upper DS corner.:D
Snip and trim. The end results.
I also used a couple of good lengths from the donor car to piece in the rest that was rotted in spots. It was a pita doing it on the car but that way I knew the shape would be correct.
Thanks for visiting.....

That's what I call sucking it into place. Some times you have to bump it into place with a big a$$ hammer while you suck it in before you clamp it.

I bet it looks way better than it looked out of the factory.:cool:[cl[cl[P[P

PS trunk corner work today.
More internal bracing. Rust cut out. Patches tacked in. 16 Gauge again.
Still need to wrap the edge up the side of the quarter panel.
Then weld solid and knock them down a bit with the grinder.
Once again we are going for strength and being sealed. Not looks. :p :D

Nice grille.

Looking at the coat of arms on it makes me think I have a steering wheel with the same one in gold out in the shop. I got it with a bunch of other CL stuff a while back. (I think I posted pics) I don't need it for anything I have. If it is on your list, its yours. It also has about 8" of column, a blinker switch and shift lever.

Thanks Skip. I’ve got 2 now. A gold one that came with the custom body and a black one in the 4 door donor.
If it has that coat of arms on it most likely it’s from a Dodge Coronet.
