I don't believe in buying cars for my kids but I made a deal with them. Whatever they save I will match up to a certain amount.

This car was parked down the street from our house, collecting rust.

It was purchased out of Dallas in 2006 for our neighbors daughter who contracted cancer and passed away in 2008.

It has sat ever since, the mother was emotionally attached and would only sell to teenage girl.

My daughter fell in love with it and made her an offer on her own. $800 dollars and the deal was struck, $400 from my daughter and $400 from me.

85k miles on it. Interior is all original and perfect. Minor surface rust and one rotted floor board.

Put in a new battery, new wires, etc. and she runs like a top.

A little sanding, paint, etc. and my daughter, who is doing most of the work, will have a 1963 beetle when she gets her license.

Should be a blast working on it with her.

She is going to get on RRR on keep her build posted and up to date.

With a little elbow grease she will have more than a car she will have memories that will last forever . I will never forget my first truck , I still have it 32 years later !

Made a deal with her that if she ever decides to sell, she has to sell it back to me for what I put into it.

That way when she is 38 years old she isn't wishing she still had the car. I would rather bail her out financially than have her sell the car.

goose this will be a cool build for the 2 of you , seen some awesome Bug Rats put together can't wait to see what her ideas will be an how far will you let her take it good luck is this still 50/50 when it come to the Build

Build will be 50/50 however she only makes about 160 per month so you can bet it will be more like 20/80 but that is okay. I just want her to learn the value of a dollar and the joy that can come from building a car.

No pink here, she is not a normal girl. She is very rockabilly/phsycobilly she wants to paint the body black, wheels blood red, dash red, black interior (luckily it is already black except the headliner)

She wants me to pinstripe and letter it for her. Using all the original trim, a little pitted but she says it is just way to cool to replace with new shiny stuff.

Should be fun, just have to budget my time as I am almost done with my 38 GMC.

I figure she can work on her beetle while I am out working on the 38 and I can split my time.

Awesome! Great plan, both the build and making sure she’ll keep it. My daughter still has her first rig that she and I built together, great memories.
