Help is always a good thing [cl
I lost mine when we moved to N.M. and she moved to Texas :(
It's coming nicely [P

Indeed it is soltz.
Just one of our many adapted kids that aren't kids anymore.
I started to work on the steering wheel. Idle hands are the devils workshop......or something like that.:p
I will use 2 layers of plastic tubing. The smaller inner layer fits over the steel ring. It also fits inside the larger tubing.
The outer, larger tubing got paint poured into it.
Once dry I will split it and put it over the smaller tubing.
That gives me a good thickness for the wheel. And the tubing will protect the paint from wear and tear. At least that's my working plan.[cl
I will paint up the wrapped spokes to match the wheel color.
Not the best job. Better then it was.
Keep on keeping on.......

Have I got this right, Torchie, the outside clear tube is painted on the inside to make the wheel perimeter look like you painted twenty seven coats of clear over the colour paint. Really Cool, :D:D ----- unless I've guessed wrong and put you up on an 'inventor' pedestal for no real reason.

You are correct, Mac.
I poured paint inside the the large tube.
After i drained it and the paint dried i split the tube and put ot over the smaller tubing on the the wheel.
I will use some SS wire ties around each side of the spokes to help keep it together as well as adding a bit of splash.lol
Now if i could only find my metal tie cinching/ cutoff tool.
I am happy with the results for my first try.
Like i said i feel it fits the build vision ( what ever that seems to be on any given day.)
Torchie
I can refine it more if i need to.

great plan. What kind of paint do you use?

When i first started messing with this i used some acrylic craft paint that Mrs T had. dutch.
For this version I used some gloss Grey enamel that i had. Trying not to spend any money. Lol
The acrylic dried much faster. I suspect you could use Just about any paint.

I was thinking it might crack loose from the tube when installing if it is a hard paint [S I like to rob Mrs. D for materials too... :D

Once the tube is on the wheel I don’t expect it to crack.
I think that when the paint is still fresh nothing is going to Flake off.
I could have waited a bit longer , dutch. The paint was still a little tacky.😳
It worked out anyways.
