SnoPro, here's some food for thought, my nephew wanted to build a hotrod a few years ago but has since lost interest. He went to Edmonton to university and left a 1956 International truck cab sitting on my lawn. Would you be interested. I don't know the price yet, but it won't be very high.

Hurricane Helene... mark another place in the lucky column for me! We had high winds all day and some rain but not excessive. I'm praying for all those north of me. Millions without power and high water effects everywhere...

I ate half a cheesecake today. I skipped chemo today-I'll go tomorrow. I can't figure out how to get the cab off my 53 truck. Guess I'm renting a forklift for the day. It's suddenly cold in Indiana! But I scored a huge box of Car Kulture Delux and Hot Rod mags for $10 on marketplace today! Wow I sound like the poster child for ADD meds lol!

I use my engine hoist! Things get a bit sketchy as the cab gets higher, in this lower position, everything is pretty stable. The cab tilts towards the hoist, and the back end of the hoist gets pretty light as the cab gets higher in the air. To move the cab, the hoist is as high as it will go. In this picture the cab is about a foot above the frame and the cab is about as level as it gets, but to clear the trans, that passenger side of the cab had to be higher then the motor is in the picture. I move that cab, lifted 2' higher then in the last picture, across my driveway several times. that cab weighs about 600lbs. This time was to see how much needed to be cut out of the cab to fit, it was probably the 2nd time it was lifted over the frame.

In the 1st pic, notice the seam in the driveway under the hoist, the seam in the driveway in front of the cut out firewall laying on the drive is the same seam. I had to lift the cab up high enough I could pull the hoist that was at max height with the cab on it, towards the grass, so I could push the frame into the garage, lower the hoist, turn it 180 degrees in the driveway, cross that center seam, and set it on the jack stands that were in their highest position. Any lower on the stands and I couldn't lift the cab high enough to get it over the frame. This last pic is how much original cab was removed to fit on the frame. I usually do this stupid stuff by myself, I don't want anyone else to get hurt.

Got the body up and rolled the chassis out from under a model a sedan using 2x4s and blocks by myself. Boards crossways and 4 stacks of blocks ( crates or whatever) Went around the stacks lifting the end of the boards one at a time and placing another block in place until it raised high enough.
