Wow, the title of this thread describes my life lately. I brought home another project a few weeks back. A '63 Scout that my grandfather bought new, drove it on the farm till the late '70s then parked it behind the polebarn.

Im calling this my "1 step forward, 2 steps back" build. So far ive replaced the siezed 152 motor with the slightly bigger 196 model(1 step forward) only to find out that the starter is bad and the fuel pump is dumping fuel out of the base faster than its going into the carb(2 steps back) More things that are kicking my butt are the brakes, hyd. clutch, and floors. Actually floors arent that bad, i dont mind metal and rust.

Now i know why he parked it all those years ago

The average person has two feet. But not everyone does. Maybe you can order onezys.

Cuz thats what the pirates do! My wife walked into the run line we have for the dogs the other day, hit her right in the eye. She spent a few hours whining about it and how its swollen. Honestly i couldnt see any signs of swelling. Then she asked if i would still be with her if she only had one eye. I in turn replied "No! What guy wants to be with an eye patch wearing pirate?" That didnt go over well. "you really wouldnt be with me?" Im just worried that someone will think i beat her.

Speaking of my wife. She totally lost interest in the '50 chebby i got her last year. Claiming that she cant drive it because its a standard. (4spd w/granny gear, couldnt stall it if i tried) Now she says that she wants a jeep. So i went and picked this up for $100. Its a #s matching '46 CJ2A, runs and drives great(did i mention thats a 3spd?). It just doesnt have any breaks (perfect for my wife) Loads of redneck engineering on this baby, the gas pedal is a piece of plywood hooked to a piece of threaded rod, the battery box is made out of scrap pieces of wood, the starter button was wired to ground instead of hot, the gas tank is out of a tractor and is mounted(w/wood) to the floor in the rear, there is a cable going from the brake pedal to the parking brake(nope, dont work) the seats in it are from a lawn mower(when you go around a corner you slide across the floor.

Reminds me of a ratty rod

I bought a Scout like that one with a snow plow. Paid $500 bucks, took the plow off for my 66 Dodge, and sold the Scout for .... $500 bucks. They really hold their value.

since i'm still enjoying my week of fun (see post 722) i've been watching more tv than normal (or possibly even legal[S)
i was watching WW-2 in HD on history channel today.......some really serious coverage of it...makes me weep for all of the loss of human lives, and yet my heart is proud of all those GI's that bravely and courageously fought to keep America free......
would love to fly in one of those B-17's--but NOT under the circumstances that they were dealing with....

GOD bless America

Hey Preacher,
I've been clikin' to that WWII in HD also and I agree the pain & loss of life bring the tears as do the stories of courage and the pride I feel for those folks.

Quite a generation of Americans.......we'll never see again, sadly.

I recently read a book about the Marine Raiders in the South Pacific. Up to 80% of some batalions were injured or killed. Most of them were teenagers or in their early 20's. Reading about it was enough to make a grown man cry, and it did.

early christmas

well, the wifey went to get in on all those wonderful sales that are going on today.....came home with "our" present, too......
movin up in the world with a laptop computer (a cheapy sale model, but nice for what we'll be doing anyway)
also noticed i've hit the big 1000 on posts.....seems like its so easy now to get on here and share stories or try to help answer questions...

Those two guys pulling a board around in the dark do nice work, and they are quick about it as well.

Pretty darn cool no matter how it was done! Aside from crop circles, it's also called - "Sacred Geometery". it's all about complex mathmathics. I'd love to make one of those someday. [ddd

Some Tennessee farmer would absolutely crap if he found one of those in his tobbaccy field! [ddev
