Every year I go up north and weld on the pens at a buffalo ranch, getting ready for weaning. This year was a good one, build 8 gates from oil field pipe and installed them, tore out some stuff and re-engineered it to be less labor intensive. It's always a good shot in the arm. It's also good to have it behind me. Winter is right around the corner and I have a lot of stuff piled up here at home to tend to now. Time to buy a new gun and get new tires on the dually.

I can only think how hard winter is in S.D. we can have it bad here in the northeast but it doesn't last as long as where you are enjoy the time to take care of stuff.

I hear that WB3. It's still sweltering humid heat where I live. Some folks like it but I don't care for it that much.

Yeah, when I lived in east Texas, the natives couldn't wait for summer and couldn't imagine living where there was winter. Personally, I would curl up and die if I couldn't be outside most of the daylight hours and it just wasn't any fun to be out in that sweltering, humid heat.
When I lived in Alaska, we didn't think anything of going to watch snowmobile races and being outside all day in the minus zero weather. Or of riding in that cold either. One time a good friend and I did trail sweep for a cross country race. It overnighted about 100 miles out at a lodge and came back the next day. We pulled out in the morning at minus 37 and rode 100+ mph on the river for 30-40 miles until the trail cut off through the woods. We had to bring our snowmobile belts in at night so we didn't smoke them getting rolling.

I lived in Cape Coral Fl for six years, the winters were great but the summers just sucked. However, 37 below zero, suicide comes to mind, because if my pee freezes before it hits the ground i might as well be dead. I can,t stand the cold!

I lived in Cape Coral for years and now live next door in Ft Myers. The Summer heat is really getting to me these days, but thank God it is finally starting to cool off and become Fall.

But I would rather sweat than freeze like you guys in some parts of the country. I lived up North long most of my life and NEVER want to see snow and ice again........except maybe ice in a Captain and Coke. :D

Don

I love living where we experience four distinct seasons. Fall is my favorite with Spring coming in at a close second..........I work outside a lot with my job and as far as hot and cold go, I'd rather struggle to stay warm than struggle to stay cool.

Same here. love the fall, and all the 4 seasons. I figure I can always build a fire if I'm cold but there isn't much you can do if it's hot. I hate sweating.

FWIW, pee doesn't freeze before it hits the ground at 60 below, not sure on any colder than that. Biggest problem is not having enough fire hose to get past all the snow pants and underwear. Well, that and really cold hands.

It's a comin and won't stop now till March.:D

[cl[cl[cl too darn funny WB....good luck with the gig.....
and doc, not sure I wanna know how you found out about that fact!:D

I don't mind the cold so much. It's always seemed easier to stay warm than get cool. We have a saying in Steamboat; to live in the snow ya gotta play in the snow and I love to ski. In 2009 I had to move to Denver part time for my work. The cold sucks in Denver because there's noting to do in the cold.

I love skis too, only with at least 120 horsepower setting between them.:D:D

Me too, with that kind not only can you go down the hill but you can make it back up in style as well!!!!

I prefer to have my seasons change, and would rather be cold than hot. When your cold put on a coat, when your hot there are only so many things you can take off..........

Doc, after reading your response and seeing your avatar, my eyes have stopped working!!!!:D

Gives new meaning to the term "welding flash". :D

Somebody told me about a home remedy. Cover the affected eye(s) with a hot tea bag. [S Worst advice I've ever heard...
