I have had an axle for my trailer laying outside on a concrete slab for 6 months, it was there Sat. when I moved the trailer to go to the swap meet. Today I picked up a piece of steel tubing si I could widen it & went to see if it was gonna fit and low & behold they were gone.

I thought somebody must have come into my shop and stole a screwdriver the other day. Cause it was not where I left it. Some how or another it moved to another spot in the shop. Turns out I must have ghosts, or maybe mice.

Sad to hear of your loss CD! Don't worry the Karma will get em.

thats why i dont leave anything outside where people can see it, but karma's a bitch and they'll get what they deserve in the end

That sucks.

A few years ago I had the garage door open in the back of the house while I was mowing the grass in the front. 11am on a Saturday, bright and sunny, people out walking dogs, etc. Finished mowing the front, went around to grab the weedwacker out of the garage and it was gone - along with my mountain bike which was all the way in the back of the garage. Now THAT takes cojones!

eh......didn't your mama ever tell you to pick up you stuff and put it away? Now you know why. hahahahaha....[cl

sorry to hear it--but it has prob happened to us all--my story goes like this, a guy loaned me a set of headers to try on my 46, they were in the bed one day & gone the next....no clue how or where they went....

no Bonehead, the ghosts didn't move 'em i looked everywhere hopin that was what happened;)

Remember Murphy's Law

I'm gonna buy some rocks of crack & some meth, then just leave packets of them laying out by the stuff I can't store inside. Maybe that will work[S

my luck, I'd get caught buying it or carrying it.....LOL that's what keeps the honest people HONEST....... sorry that someone grabbed your stuff...... scrap prices are really up again..... at least here in MI.... no telling what they'd take if left out.....

We get these scrap guys driving through the industrial park where our shop is all the time, looking for steel to pickup out of dumpsters and stuff. I hate it when they cruise through, they keep eyeballing our stuff like it is something they would love to haul off and make a few bucks.

I just read a story in one of the hot rod magazines the other day where a guy went into a restaurant and when he came out his SUV was louder than normal. Some thieves crawled under, unbolted his catalytic convertor, and stole it. The article said they target SUV's and pickups because you can easily fit under them to work. I told Dan to put a couple of welds on the bolts on his Dodge pickup cats so they will have a harder time getting it.

we had a problem around here folks stealing ac unit parts for the copper --- climbing up on schools during the summer when no one was there and such.

Oh yeah, that's a biggie down here too. My Sons manage properties and one day a vendor ran into my Son Dans office and told him he saw a guy sitting behind one building, working on an ac unit. My Son knew he didn't have one of his maintenance guys doing that so they ran back. By the time they got there the unit was stripped down and the guy was taking off in a car. They also steal copper wire from construction sites and highway projects. Not sure how they dispose of it because when I take scrap to the yard they require ID and a thumb print.

i think the copper wire thing is just everywhere. It's really unfortunate because it cost the person buildings a lot more money but ive noticed most the housing developments getting built have security at night for that reason.
F*ing thieves...i had my truck broke into and my house in high school.

Cats are big business for the scrapers due to precious metals..... they go to Harbor Freight, buy cordless sawzall's and cut them off... Welds won't stop them and I'm surprised that they took the time to unbolt it.... cut the front, cut the rear....bob's your uncle......about 15-20 seconds.... GONE...and the SUV's are the targets for the clearance issues and the larger size but they'll take the cars too....
