Then you should get yourself a good one and go from there.You will always need a bigger one as you progress.Unless you have unlimited funds to keep upgrading them then get what you want.But it will be a costly learning mistake.Its your money and it sounds like no matter what advice that you have been given. You dont sound like you are going to absorb much of it.
I can just about guarantee you that if you spend your money on a little welder that you will attempt to weld on stuff that you should not.It will not penatrate the steel.
You will also regret buying it as you learn.Learning this art is not rocket science.And can be learned very quickly.
I have seen this happen quite a few times.Guys buying cheap stuff just because they dont want to spend the money up front and get stuck with a use less piece of machinery that they cant use for the job that they need to do.
