Had to thank my old dad yesterday. I have my '57 Ranchero because he had one! Back in the day, dad & his best friend dropped a big Caddy engine in his it & that sucker would smoke the tires something fierce! Loved seeing that when I was a teen!

Anyway... been needing to work on the steering wheel for quite some time & yesterday was the day. The bolts holding the steering wheel on were wallowed out & the bolts kept falling out & I definitely didn't want them falling out while I was driving. Since that housing is aluminum I figured it would be easy to retap those threads & lo & behold... I looked in ol dad's tool chest & found a 1/4" 28 thread tap, ran it through there, got some new bolts & volia... all's good again!

Dad had 3 of every tool you can imagine & after finding the right one... I had to thank him once again. He also had about a dozen cans of Barbasol when he passed... guess he figured he was gonna live to 100. Miss him every day!!!

Great story Bob! Do you happen to know if he did any lead body work? Shaving cream was used as a trick to keep lead exposure down in the old days...
