I am not going to let a fear of lawyers stop me from being a decent human being .
Even if i KNEW it was illegal (which it isn't )
I would still try to help someone in need.

I think every one of us on here would stop and help a person in need. That's different. You ARE taking about an organization when you get into go fund me and organizing other volunteers. You may need to set up a 502C3. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it, just cross all the Ts and dot all the Is. It's like running a free soup kitchen, even if you do it to help the poor with no expectation of any return, the health department will still show up at some point.

I'm sure it isn't illegal to help people and I'm not talking about fear but CYA in our litigious society. Who hooks the rope to their car, you or them? What if it comes loose and causes damage? Who pays? Your insurance? We never used to worry about stuff like that and I've pulled more people out than I can count, so I wouldn't refuse help either. Upscaling it to an endeavor and I would want to be more aware of liabilitys.
