Memories, way back in the early 70's in Fort Mac Ab, we started some organized drag racing at the airport and there was all kinds of junk came out to race. There was a 59 Chevy with a 327 and 2 speed powerglide. His carb was all messed up and every time he got the green light he would pin it and it would start to go then fall on it's face and stall. They gave him 3 or 4 tries and on the last one he must have gone all in, he sat on the line foot to the floor in neutral, when the light turned green he pulled the column shift to L. There was parts, pieces and trans fluid everywhere.

Having spent some time at "our" racetrack, I've been a start line official several times. In that role, you watch for any and all possible issues, paying special attention to "street car" rookies who may attempt the strictly forbidden neutral drop!
