Nice. Looks like a good one. You'll be glad you went with a heavier trailer with good axles and tires.
I pull trailers a lot and I have a couple mods I'd suggest. First, put some 3/16 plate on the back, over the wood. Weld it to that angle iron that holds the the planks and go to the first cross stringer so you can get some carriage bolts in it to hold the leading edge secure. I have a very similar trailer and every muffler clamp or frame rivet will catch on that angle iron and eventually bend it all up or tear it off. Also the front upright should have at least one brace from the center running down on a diagonal forward. That will bend if you ever try to hook a come-a-long or hand winch to it to yard a car up. Both things that are screwed up on my own trailers. I'm just finishing up building another trailer and I address both of those issues. I put 2 braces on the front and 3 feet of diamond plate on the rear before the planking.
I also have the style of fenders you have. I had mine rolled from 3/16 and then built them myself. My big trailer has those cheesy factory fenders that bend when you step on them. I've straightened and welded them 2-3 times in as many years.

Right On

Skull, old buddy old pal old friend of mine [ddd
Bet you've heard that before [S
Super nice trailer [cl
Willowbilly's, suggestion about the tread plate on the back, is on the mark too.
Have ya got a winch picked out yet [P

thanks

good suggestions, thanks guys:D

it's a 2005 great northern, made in sutherlin, oregon and l got from the original owner.

did some research before l actually bought it and the GN trailers have a good reputation and a life time warranty on most of the trailer if you don't just be stupid and abuse/neglect it.

you who are familiar me here know l don't brag much, but darn l gotta on this deal, retail on these are around 4 grand and l been looking for a long time for one of these and used they still go for 3 grand to 3.5 grand.

got the thing for $1,9OO.OO.. guy had it on CL and it said MUST SELL, so l made a offer and "whalla" l have a good trailer for real good price.

for now l am just gonna throw a cheepie harbor freight winch on till l find a good one for a decent price. l hate living in a tight budget, but oh well, that's the way life goes.

0H, and until you have good car trailer, you don't know how many friends you really have:rolleyes:

got it home last night and already 4 people wanta borrow it [S

Skull, I bought a HF 6000# for $249 it has not let me down one time.
Just before the end of the year, HF ran a 12,000# for $299 needless to say I bought it and sold my 6000# used for $200 :D

My buddy has one that looks like that but the entire floor jacks up at an angle.
No ramps required, drive on, let the hydraulic jack down and the car is on.

I borrow one like that from a freind too. He has a 12,000# winch and I can load cars that don't even have wheels, drag them right up out of the dirt.

$1900 was a sweer deal. My "big" trailer is a 95 and I had to pay $1700 for it. It's very similar to yours.

Nice trailer at a nice price.

I've every brand of winch ever made and the best for the money is the ones at tractor supply for $400. The harbor freight ones have the junkets clutch set up I've ever saw. With Craig smith equipment being a very close second. The best overall is the warn winches but you will pay for one.

happy camper

W0W, l am so happy with the trailer, 70mph and it tows great.

put 250 miles on it this week-end and it never missed a beat.

never had this nice of a trailer before but now l see why people spend the money for top of the line brand.

brought this home to speed up the other build.

Don't ya hate those 30 foot tie downs? I finally just whacked 2 of mine off at 12 feet and those are the 2 I used most.

i just used one of those and found the bed didnt tilt far eough for low cars.
i had to make longer ramps for the regular kind of trailer for load bagless cars that are really low.

I wanted one of the tilts until I figured out the same thing.
I built 6' long aluminum tread plate ramps for mine. It already had a 3' dove tail that I put steel tread plate on.
I've yet to have any trouble loading one as low as 4", heck I even pulled a couple on without tires or suspension.
