I've just been contacted by a buyer for my '49. Nice guy from Texas. He offered to send a deposit but I told him it wasn't necessary. I prefer that he looks at the car in person before deciding. He said he always wanted the car and knew of the car when Bad Bob had it. He's suppose to come in the middle of the week since he has to be in San Francisco anyway. It's been fun but I wouldn't want to drive it all the way to San Francisco and then to Texas without lots of stopovers.

I told him about looking at it before he decides, but his mind seems to be made up. When I sold my '32, I told the buyer to go home and think about it for a week. He lasted 3 days before picking it up. Guess I'm overly cautious. I just want the buyer to be happy.

So, we'll see what happens.............

Great looking shoebox Ford there. Sorry to see you sell it, but sometimes it is just time. The new owner will be getting a good one, from the picture. :)

I know how you feel though, I still wonder how my old 23 is doing these days. It was a good running car, but stuff happens and you hope the new owner has the same luck with it you did.

Looks like a 'Keeper' to me but like Don said, sometimes "it's just time". Besides if I kept everything I ever had I wouldn't have room for it :D.

I know what you mean about finding something and having to have it now. About fifteen years ago my boss redid a '57 Belair mostly stock appearing except for wheels and a nice built 350 w/a Muncie. He decided to sell it and stuck a for sale sign on it at a local show. A local Dr. came up and asked how much he wanted for it and then said who do I make the check out to? My boss said don't you want to drive it  the guy said no......wanna hear it run  no I heard it when you drove it in here  Haven't seen the car for a couple years now but I believe the Doc still has it

Hope the new owner enjoys the shoebox as much as I'm sure you have.

Yeah, isn't that weird? The guy who bought my 23 at the Street Rod Nationals didn't want to drive it or even sit in it. [S It left me with the strangest feeling .

The wife I had went to the Mooneyes Xmas Show and it got HOT! We ended up leaving early, around 10 am, because of the heat. My wife doesn't perspire so she's prone to heat exhaustion or heat stroke. Driving a chopped top sled where the rear windows are fixed, doesn't promote ventilation. The drive home, we cooked. Plus the rear being bagged, it's not a comfortable ride unless the road is flat. Some times, looking cool is not all it's cracked up to be.

My wife wants a car we can take on vacation. It must have a/c and auto so she can drive.

I did a three way trade this week on my Model A, the guy that had the Merc I just got wanted a '41 Plymouth and the owner of the '41 wanted a Model A so we all ended up with what we wanted. Trade only took four days from start to finish, including all the transportation (Northern Ohio, Pittsburgh PA, Kingsport TN).

Congrats....good feeling huh? Until you see it actually leaving!:(
When it leaves. Plans fell through again. The new owner is too busy with work to get the car. He's looking for a shipper now. Oh well, gives me time to find another car. When he said he was gonna drive it home, I put a new top of the line battery it her, changed the oil and filter, changed trans fluid, tuned it up, repacked front bearings and installed new pads all around. (sigh) Except for the front pads, I did the rest for my piece of mind.

Sold the car last Tuesday, mail the title to the new owner Thursday, Wednesday she's still sitting in my garage and hadn't heard from the owner. Hmmmmm.........

Strange. At least you got paid. I know if I bought that car, I'd be pretty anxious to get it home.
It sucked big time when I had to take the '51 to the Ventura Nationals instead of the '49 and looking at it everyday. Especially since I did all that maintenance so he could drive it home.

Oh man, just heard from the new owner of the '49, the shipping company scratched the roof of the '49. Unfortunately, the new owner wasn't home when they dropped the car off. They unloaded it and parked it in the garage. That's why I took the pictures of them loading the car and sent them to the new owner.

For some reason, the car has developed cracks in the paint since going to Texas. I know the paint is at least 10 years old. Don't know if it's weather related or the shipping from California to Texas. As for the scratches definitely caused by the shippers, they are refusing to pay.

Gasser,
That is so common. The shipper screwed the hood on Chevelle up & I never could get the $$$ out of them... cost me a grand to repair & repaint the hood & I used a pretty big well known shipper.
