Been busy fixing a problem I've been in denial about, the paint job. I screwed up royally on the clearcoat, had a problem called solvent pop where there are tiny bubbles trapped in the clear, caused by poor gun atomization, too short of a waiting time between coats and putting it on too heavy. Couldn't be buffed out, it only exposed it more, trapping the compound in them making it even more hideous. So, tore it apart, resprayed the base and clear. A new, better gun was the real key, it layed out really well plus observing proper time between coats (3), turned out great this time. Blocked out again and buffed, I'm happy now - time to put it back together and get the engine in.

Glad you are back. I was just about to declare you AWOL. That was a lot of work to fix the paint, but knowing you, it had to be done. I wish I could see in t in person.
Man, I hate it when something like that happens. Takes a lot of patients to redo something that took a lot to begin with. Well done! Looks great!

Yeah, it was a 10 footer- when you got up close it was like WTF?! Oh well, lesson learned, maybe it makes me a better painter.

Back on track, got the engine landed in it's forever home, nice to start assembling more shiny bits I've been collecting for 3 years.

Oh, definitely cruise it! The race thing may happen at some point, I haven't made as pass on a track in 45+ years so I'll have to get really familiar with its habits before dropping the hammer

Looks really good ZZ. Like FBP pointed out, we've all had our share of mess-ups, and a lesser man might have resprayed and never admitted on here! Kudo's to you. That engine looks like a jewel in there.
