shock mounting advice

So I need some shock mounting advice, the way it currently mounted was a flat plate in between the leaf springs and the front axle with a tab that came off.. I'd like to change that becuase one is broken.

Any reasonable ideas? Any concerns I should have? Pictures are worth a thousand words (unfortunately I don't have any).

Haha FAIL on my part huh

It's a 67 International 1300 1 ton, it has a solid front axle. I'll try to get some pictures tonight.

Is it possible to just weld 2 tabs with holes in em to the axle wide enough to slip that shock through and bolt it? I have some 14g sheet metal I can make tabs out of and drill out.
