Couple of questions.
Is it my eyes or are your front tires bigger in diameter than the rear?.
Also how much are thinking about lowering the radiator/grill?
Torchie.
Yessir, The tire and wheel combo that I've been showing in pix before were 14" rims on the front. I'm thinking in the future if I get this thing on a trip, I'll carry a spare and it'll make everything easier being closer than what they were with those. These in the last 2 shots are 15" retreads. The diameter on the front is 27" Rear is a little over 26". The wheels now are the ones that were on the '53 front axle. The diameter on the 14" ers was 25"+.
The rad and shell will probably drop about 2". I'll tackle that tomorrow. My plans are to change my core support, move the rad bracket ahead 3/4", and move the whole thing shell and all down till it lines up with the cowl.
Thanks everyone for confirming my thoughts. I kept getting thrown off working with a different tire height and most of the time the truck was on dollies. I changed the wheels and tires today to make the final adjustment on the rad and shell. I've moved it a couple times already so this one's the charm!

Think it's my poor lighting!

My eyes are really getting bad....LOL....[/QUOTE]

I think I named the color wrong on a previous post and said it was gun metal gray but I checked and it's called steel gray. Any way...It's not dark enough for what I want outside, so I have a different paint for that with some tint to darken if I don't like it. I gotta agree that it looks blue in those pix!
Thanks ya'll:D

This side shot of your truck makes me smile. We all know how far you've came on this build and it is looking fantastic.

Thanks Old Iron! That's one thing that seems to keep us all going. Make a little progress, step back and look it over, if you're smiling, something is going good...

One more bump on the shell?

AAarrg!!! Made a different support for the rad and it's in. The shell is just sitting. I'm touching the corners of the inside brackets on the rad with the shell here, but I can shave a little more off the corners and maybe make another 1/2 inch down on the shell. It's close to doable now but want to see if I can make it better. Fan clearance is better. I'm really close to the limit on removing the radiator cap with the shell here. Trying to do a side by side shot of the last pic yesterday and today:

Could you use a remote cap in the top hose to get the shell down more?
Thanks Bama! I've been considering that all day. Let me see where it sits with brackets nubbed off tomorrow and I'll know. If it comes into better position and I can remove the cap it'll stay. I'm going to do some small changes on the hoses as these were just mocked up to where I needed clearance and to run the motor when I sat it in here. They are all a concoction of pipes and small lengths of hose now. I've got a different water neck that will change the direction on the top hose....
It's all my fault! Running Chevrolet on a ford radiator so hoses are funky!

are you talking about a cap extension ? if you can use one of them it may stick out the top ... or is your cap not in the middle ? just me thinking out loud ..

The jeep radiator is not a centered cap. Bama mentioned a remote cap. They can be put in the hose and placed where ever...I'm not far off with it and there are options to make it work, just ran out of dayklight!;)

Okey Dokey Smokey

This is where it's staying. Moved the radiator down another 1/2" and nubbed the corners and moved the shell down some more. I'm satisfied with it this time.

Got a bunch of little stuff done lately. First shot shows the bed. Added my tool box(bolted down on top of rubber pad). Gas tank is in & plumbed. Placed a tie down strap and a rubber pad for the battery. Used an ankle strap off one of my old climbing hooks. Added a couple of bed strips too.

The shot of the front shows a simple bumper I fashioned from a leaf spring. Heated it up and took almost all the curve out of it. Made some "L" brackets out of 1 3/4"x1/4" strap for bolting it together and a couple of stainless capped bumper bolts off my old 72 C-10. Ya'll can probably see a pattern here. There are little parts and pieces off all my old vehicles somewhere in the build. Gonna be a little of my history....

Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to share any videos with ya'll! I'm on dial-up and it's just impossible to DL a video with transfer rates that slow. I did a short video this afternoon and tried to put it up thru photobucket. I let it try for 3 hours and the file was only a quarter of the way thru when I canceled it out. It was a short one but on high def and the file was huge I guess. I'll retry my settings tomorrow. Otherwise, it won't happen with my slow crappola...[ddd

You should be proud. You took some thing that most people would have passed by and turned it into this.:D [cl [cl [cl
Torchie.

Thanks Torchie! Means alot!!! I'm still itching for a ride. It would've happened today but I forgot the tranny fluid. Went to move it after I cleaned the barn enough to get it out and it wouldn't budge. Oh yeah, I remember now...fill tranny...fill tranny...fill tranny...:D

very nice .....

I'd be itchin for a ride too.....Patience is a virtue and I don't have any virtue's..
Nice work man.....[cl

Thanks Sarge! I can just imagine I look like a tuna in a sardine can...no tight pants or big boots help any on fitting. Don't know a big person could make it. I have a position I can get in and my knees clear once in the seat. All comfort is sacrificed I guess...
