Upper rear coil over mounts are tacked in place. After getting the wheels on the ground to check ride height, it will be fully welding and eventually tied into the cage.

My friend Wallace at Carquest helped me with some research in my quest to find the smallest diameter auto trans flexplate for my electric reverse set up. He came up with the plate from a Dodge Neon at 10'5" or so. It seems to have enough metal in all the right places to drill the VW diff bolt pattern!

Replacing/reconfiguring the rear inner fender well to frame bracing. Also playing around with some misc sheet metal that I picked up from NPD clearance room. Price was too good to pass up!

I've seen the starter motor reverse setup in a build somewhere. Was that you Ben? Something like a V8 in the back of a Suby Mini Pick Up? Maybe you've seen it?

Yes, that was in the V8 Daihatsu Hijet. Basically, you add an additional flexplate and starter and engage it to reverse the vehicle while you hold the clutch in. Woks well for those times that you can't pull thru a spot or have to park nose in at a curb

Rear body bracing that was removed to create various clearances are being reconfigured and replaced. Lots of welding still to be completed.

Passenger side is done which resulted in adequate tire clearance through the full suspension travel.

Rear mini tubs are going in along the way.

Eventually tubing will be installed through this opening from one side of the body to the other and will be used as a support for the roll cage.
