One step happier today! Driver side all but done. Ron and I were so pleased with the fit of all of our pieces. Everything came together beautifully. Not much longer to the finish line.

All hands on deck today and mission accomplished! Passenger side is on. Modified the base mounts for the side pipes and improved the positioning of the pipes a lot. Good old rule #7.

No bumpers until next weekend…one way or the other! Take my money and produce shoddy work then put me on the back burner instead of getting them fixed asap is not settling well!

We were having an over heating problem. I think we got it fixed. Drilled some holes in the thermostat to increase the flow. We’re still trying to find a happy spot for the engine, radiator and the new EFI, which wants to be around 180 degrees.

We’re both very happy campers today. It’s going together better than we imagined. A far cry from what I brought to Ron almost two years ago. Even with the hood missing, what an amazing transformation!

FINALLY got the call to pick up my bumpers Thursday. So up early Friday morning and back by the afternoon. Gave the back of the bumpers a coat of etch primer and 3M rubberized undercoating. Sure does give them a more detailed look not to mention preventing the weathering elements.

I think I mentioned we found a leak in our fuel tank. I’ve been cleaning it out to keep my friend Ron safe when he has to weld it again. Speaking of Ron, he was feeling better today and was in the shop working today.

I’ll have some new pics soon.

Mounted the license plate frame/third stop light today. Drilled some holes in the bumper and installed nutserts. I just luv those things! They give such a clean look with an easy way to securely fasten items. Finished prepping the deck lid today so paint tomorrow. Still trying to find our problem with the wiring harness for the turn signals. Our fuse is hot but no power coming out to the stop light/turn signals. Eliminated a few more things today. Maybe tomorrow will bring a solution. Can’t wait to get the trunk lid finished and installed. Once completed we will officially completed the rear of the car. Finalizing the roll bar, everything is set for Ron to tack and weld and repair the fuel tank while the welder is out. Then just waiting on the windshield to get back to set the height and finish mounting the roll bar.

Rethinking our way to secure the hood. Looking at different solutions possibly something temporary to get out of the shop and on the road. More later…

Ron’s finishing up the body work on the hood. We expect to have our windshield back soon. Oh so close!

I had a wire come loose from the back side of the brand new fuse block that caused a problem like that for me.

Thanks Old Iron!
That is where we are checking but haven’t found anything YET! It almost has to be in that new fuse block. We’ve check all of our schematics and everything is connected correctly.

Deck lid painted and if all goes as planned finished and installed for the last time this week!

Fabricated my console mount for the radio today. Turned out better than I thought. I’ll finish it this week, cover with carpet, mount the radio and get it wired so we will have tunes soon.

Today we celebrated our two year anniversary on this project. The rear of the car is finished! Wow what a journey it’s been and I couldn’t have done this without Ron. I’ll let the pics speak for themselves.

Thank you Ron!

Quite the transformation from the 60's version. Not many guys have the chance to get a do-over on their first car, especially a handmade one like this, way to go! [cl[cl

Thanks zzrodder! It’s been a real experience and I couldn’t have picked a better person than Ron to lead the way to this point. I’ve been like a kid in the candy store and no one there to tell you you can’t do or have anything you want. The transformation has just been incredible to be a part of.
