This weekend I'm gonna reinstall the alternator on my '41 Ford PU. Got stranded when it went down recently & when I pulled it off it appears I had a small water leak that corroded it all up but it wasn't visible from the top. HAd it rebuilt & they charged me $135. Coulda bought a new one cheaper & I told 'um so. They didn't seem to care so that's the last time I go there!!! Also gonna slam on some Gabriel Hijackers while I'm at it!
On the 4th we did a tear off of 1/2 of a 30x40 pole barn roof, and we laid all the shingles on the one side in a day, some in the morning and some in the evening to not be in the sun too long... Still have to do the other side, but at least its 1/2 done... (This is on my father's pole barn, I'm still living in a sub division, so no good storage space for me yet)
Been working on this rusty 77 Ranchero GT, I've got three of them but this is the only one close to repairable...and even it's borderline.
Frame needed quite a bit of repair but it's coming along.
Got this 79 T-bird with a rotted frame as a donor, will be using the drivetrain and front sheet metal for the Ranchero. Got the engine, trans & rear end pulled today.
I tore down a three car garage, a small barn, hauled three loads of scrap, sold my mercury and delivered it, cleaned out some industrial salvage, did a motor swap in a derby car, and now I'm glad the weekends over so I can relax a little more.
big day today started the merc for the first time today has a 305 chevy that hasn,t run in 12 years, did have that storage spray stuff in it and was turned with a breaker bar about once a year, she started right up with no drama or leaks. got to love those 2gc carbs, what a boost to keep working on it again!!!!
Mounted the alternator on the A Bucket. Was going to mount it lower left but the belt hit the steering box, so mounted it high left and made an adjuster using heims, works good.
Then worked on the Studebaker making patch panels to fill rust holes. Now must wait for the money tree to bloom again..[P
Stopped at NAPA this morning and a guy was rolling this display rack out a side door. I asked what he was doing with it and he said to the dumpster
I said, see that white truck? its closer than the dumpster.
An hour later I had me a new roll around light stand![
I worked on my Grandson's Firebird.....and found out that he crashed his really clean 97 Chevy Pickup and tweeked the frame on it...The 99 Firebird his mother (my oldest daughter) bought him had bad pinion and carrier bearings...when he called and told me the type of noise, I told him the pinion and or carrier bearings were bad but his boss where he works....Sandusky auto performance told him i was wrong and the axles and axle bearings were bad.....they put new axle shafts and bearings in and guess what....the pinion and carrier bearings were gone. got this kit..all timken stuff at autozone. Now quiet as a mouse......
