I love them all.
There`s no big water surface where I live but I do remember the sound and looks of the beautiful Riva`s on the Italian lakes where my parents took me as a kid. The combo of the wood, leather and big motor left an impression for sure. Great work

I've got no screws to hold me down......

After welding and grinding all day I finished up the evening by pulling the screws out of the Starboard side Inner ply.
The things that pass for fun... :p [ddd

Hot fun in the summer time...

Shop has gone from metal working back to wood working.
Luckily all the old bottom planks are two sections per strake. Unfortunately the new Mahogany planks aren't.. This stuff get heavy.
First strake patterned and cut out.
This row and the next right below it will need to be steam bent. Hence the new, larger steam box.:D
That's all for now.

Had some help this morning so I steam bent the 4 forward planks. 2 on each side.
In the first pic you can see that the plank is wet from soaking. In the second pic you can see that the steaming actually dries out the wood.
These planks will sit for a few days then I will refit them after trimming.

That's looking really good Torchie. I'm not sure I'd have the patience to do what you are doing, but I appreciate all the pictures, so thanks for posting!

You are a man of many talents, Torchie. The Wood Whisperer.

Thanks gang!
Not sure about the whisper part bob. This morning as I was working on fitment it was more like the “wood cusser “. 😳
One row on each side of the keel gapped and fitted.

Wood Whisperer...wood cusser :D [cl Great stuff guys, Looks terrific.

Back to being the wood cusser.
Not only no forward progress on the boat but 2 big steps backwards.
2 of the 4 boards that I steam bent ended up cracking. Not sure as to why. It could have been one of a dozen things, so now I'm back to soaking another 2 replacement planks. These things do happen.
This could prove problematic as not being a pro restorer I don't have another couple of hundred board feet of Mahogany lying around to just grab another board. WE shall see.
Plus.......
While trimming the new planks I decided to trim my nail on my index finger as well.
3 stitches later(with no numbing shot. [ddd)
That finger has had a hard life. I cut it off with a axe about 40 years ago. It was re-attached back then but has always been shorter.
The reason for the no numbing shot is that I don't have much if any feeling left in my hands.
No playing the bass for a week or so till I have the stitches pulled.
