Doug, you get hundreds of views for every comment. Don't get discouraged in that regard. Even though this project is way different than anything I would build I enjoy following along. I don't know big trucks, diesels, etc. so there is little I can comment about except to say once again that I think you are a great builder.

47 Ford

Thought I would check base with you guys briefly on my 47 progress. got the radiator installed with the hood latch. finished the fender lift raised it 1 1/2 to clear the tires. fabbed the running boards and step on the back. with the other truck, the 54 and Christmas its been slow going.its been cold here too.
now they will be pulled off and painted. the engine will come out and get painted and trans sent to the trans shop for inspection. while that's going on bodywork will be done to the body. God I think I can see light at the end of the tunnel....Oh I for got the rear fenders are going to get custom work next week. see you later. Doug n Sweetpea

Both projects are looking good Doug. I have been thinking of a 1 ton chassis, just don't need a dually. But they look cool.

All the work looks top notch, Doug. It's got a real "no nonsense" look about it.

Is this one a keeper? I hope Sweatpea is doing her share of the work.

Yes Bob its a keeper....plan to put my rat rod on a trailer behind it and cruse all the rat rod shows this summer.....at least that's the plan.
and look for a new state to move to, get out of ******* calif.

Just a quick update, got the Cummings Turbo Diesel fired up on wednesday. The guys on a site (Dodge Diesel)helped me figure it out. also a good manual from the Dodge factory helped. after bleeding the fuel filter and priming the fuel pump I kicked it over, about 20 revolutions it caught and ran like a kitten.[cl real smooth and no smoke. I'm replacing the factory clutch master cyl and slave as they have no bleeder and are a pain. be able to drive it by Tuesday. its now up for sale for 5K, new 54 title in my name ready to register and finish paint and bed.
Boy I love the feeling you get when you can fire up your project.
Hope to return to my 47 soon.
I put new upholstery in the Rod this week too.

Can't go wrong with an engine/vehicle specific forum for particular tech info. Cummins fans put 'em in all sorts of different vehicles, my best friend wants to build an early '80's GM crew cab dually with a Cummins in it.:D

Your asking price sounds pretty reasonable, you shouldn't have too much trouble selling it, looks very well built.[;)

Seems like everyone who lives in "Kalifornia" wants out... Too bad considering it's the birthplace of hot rodding and all.:( I've always wanted to visit, but I understand laws and regulations for modified vehicles can be VERY restrictive there...:(:(

Both trucks are looking great, keep at it![;)[P

Regards,
Shea:)

Hey guys still at it been doing a lot of bodywork, interior work also on the 54. got the glass in. the top I Bed Lined and painted to give a textured look. the hood I flipped, they sell a kit for $450.00 but I didn't like how it worked so I did my own. lot of work but worth it. Well its been a little while but got my new camera.....so here goes. I have the body pretty much done and painted. still needs a bunch of pin striping. the new trans is sitting waiting for me to get the engine painted. still have the dash and seat to put in it. its been pretty cold around here....at least for me, not getting much done. a friend is getting some African Eui (sp) wood for the bed. I made up the rear fenders from trailer fenders and gave them a little flip with a inset LED lights (turn and stop). I didn't have the spare money to do all the hardware on the body in chrome so I painted it all black. I think it turned out pretty good;)
still have to decide whether I want a scoop on the hood or not. not realty sure if I want to run the tunnel ram with the duel quads or not. I do intend to drive this truck every day. It might be better to just go with 1 quad. I was thinking about a Thumper cam and a gear drive. not sure about that ether?[S my trans is a 400 with a shift kit and a 2000RPM stall converter. I guess I could always put the Hot Rod parts later.

DnD, I've always liked the '47s and you just piqued my craving even more. I dreamed about a trailer pulling 2 ton '47 for a while, but now I'm going to keep my first pick-up as a 1/2 ton hotrod.
