Was just tossing it out there. Your truck looks awesome. I also had to take 6" of rot off the bottom of mine. Havent set a grill up there yet but i may have the same issue. Not enough jingle for a short rad. I think the grill looks great. Keep it up.

Looking good, I'm missing all the door hinges for my cab, and have tossed around the suicide hinge route since I have to build them anyway. Now that I've seen your result, I'm pretty sure that's the way I'll go. Thanks for the inspiration.

Well i'll get more pics later. Just a quick update. Cab is done. Tunnel is all done except the top plates.
Engine has all new gaskets, heads cleaned up, new cam, oil pump, water pump, used Edlebrock intake and a freebie Holley carb, paint etc..

Air intake is just a temp one till i make the one i have in my head.
Cab, motor and tranny are all mounted to stay now. very nice putting things on the truck and knowing they are going to stay there!
Exhaust is all done. I swapped sides and flipped the headers upside down. Then run the downpipe to my freebie side pipes(in order to be legal here).
I may shorten the side pipes some.. but will wait till i get the bed done and see how it looks.
Steering is mostly done.. but some more work left to do on it.

Just a quick pic below.

I tried my hand a making a shift knob today. Really like the ones Boneheads makes but i dont have the coin for one of his and wanted somthing smaller.

Thought i'd practice today on an old ball hitch to see if it was even possible for me to make my own.
For my first try i thought it went ok. Felt like i got the hang of it sorta speak and learned what i'll do different next time. That ball was just to dang small to work with. Messed on here and there.. but it was just practice.
So i ordered a couple metal balls tonight so i can make a permanent one thats a little bigger(but still palm sized).

Excellent build and a very cool looking truck.

looks good. Killer stance. looks mean without even moving!

Thanks guys!

Wish i had more time to work on it like i used too.

Well here some interior floor bracing pics. Most of the center tunnel is done.
The tops will be riveted on. And i will have a cover plate with rivets covering the vertical weld seam there too. Should look good all painted black with big rivet heads. The tunnel is way taller than needed. I just thought i'd make it an arm rest while i was at it.

In the process of attempting to make this into a gas tank since it was free.
Its 10" round and 42" long. About the same size as most barrell gas tanks you buy.
It was a propane tank on a 5th wheel camper. Nice and thick steel.
Didn't get it done today but got a good start.

Filled it full of water and cut it open. Lots of crap inside and way to many holes.. etc...
Cut out and welded up the holes, valves, tubes and guage.
Got the gas cap in and started on putting the sender in.

Gotta add a breather and some mounting tabs on it.
Then weld it up and pressure test it.
If all that goes well i'll paint it up black and use it.
Onlly about 3" will stick out the top of the wood bed floor.
Gotta think of somthing to cover up(dress up) the top of the sending unit too.

Just some engine and exhaust pics.
I'll make a new air cleaner later, that one is just for temp.
First 2 pics are before the side pipes were on.

Guess i never posted some motor shots. Nothing special or powerful or even worth mentioning for that matter! LOL It just fit my buget for now. An 1987 TBI 305 chevy with 87,000 on it.
Replaced the oil pump, all gaskets and seals, Comp Cam, lifters, timing chain/gears, water pump, intake and swapped to carb. Changed out the heads. This one came with the swirl port (worst 305 heads ever made) and my dad had a set of the "best" GM 305 heads. So since they were free i swapped them out. Can't hurt. Checked for cracks, cleaned them up, swapped the valve springs, seals and had the seats checked out and cleaned up.

9.3:1 comp so should be good for about 320hp Comp Cam said. I'm sure they are exagerating.. but in the ball park anyway. With a 5 speed and it being lightweight it should be fun even with that little motor in it.

Will probably put a Chevy W motor(348 or 409) in down the road. I'll worry about that when i have the money i guess. :)

looks good. Hey if you want some extra work for yourself take the ends of your fuel tank off, flip them around and out the dish side in. I do this with oil tanks for choppers and it gives it a cool look to it. But it is more work and it might not be seen if your tank is dropped all the way into your bed. Just a thought. [;)

mmm... that does sound like it would look cool. But you woudn't see it much on mine and i'd hate to lose that much fuel capacity on it.
Thanks for the idea though!

I'm usually not a fan of IFS on fenderless vehicles, but yours looks amazing. It must be a great feeling to see a test drive in the near future. I wish I were that far along. Good luck!

Oh, by the way, your truck reminds me of this:
