I've only heard the term "skookum" in your neck of the woods. I used to think I knew the definition... now, I believe it means "built like a battleship." [ddd

.

I tend to overbuild sometimes but since there is no room for a box section crossmember, the 1/4" plate should keep it stiff enough. Got the topside welded up.

Ok... I'll ask.. what do the numbers on the firewall represent?
and of course, looking great!!!!

The numbers are the body serial #, Packard started it in 1929 as a theft prevention number, there was a master list that correlated each body serial # to VIN numbers to trace stolen vehicles if the VIN plate was removed or defaced. Unfortunately, the records were lost or destroyed after Packard's demise in 1956...

Putting the 'board' back in floorboards :D Much like the original toeboard, 3/4" plywood held in with countersunk head bolts. I also put in removable plywood sections on either side of the tranny, the bolts screw into tabs welded to the floor substructure. Next will be the tranny tunnel piece made of 18 ga. steel, also removable. The rest of the floors will be welded in 18ga. steel.
