Hot rodding an old Bently is probably a crime somewhere, but I like it! [ddd I can't wait to see how this one turns out.

The Bat Mobile thingy is a little creepy looking. It looks like something the evil insect would drive in a cheap movie. It kind of reminds me of a Mach 3 razor.

I vote use the skirts but at the bottom center of the skirt make a little up and back swoop )kinda like a mini wheel well opening) that just shows the bottom of the wheel a little. Kinda like a lady showing a little ankle!

kina like this only the whole lower edge would be lower and longer with your fenders

Man--I like that! They did theirs with sheet iron.. That is 'value added' . My pieces are fiberglass, and I ain't much of a fan for glass.. I think I'll cut me a template outta luan with the swoopie thingie going on and burn a couple out with the plasma cutter. Might put a little crown in them with the roller and E-wheel, but leave em a little rough N ratty.. Nuther good idea -- thanks...

The "lady showin a little ankle" is a good description--It's that 'personality-attitude' stuff that gives a car a 'soul'.. I usta be a Teamster -drove inner city delivery in St. Louis, and I had a regular stop where the recieving was run by a little ole gal that was skinny, flat chested, horse faced, just had nuthin much going for her, but she always wore peekaboo stuff with frilly slips and lacy bras showing just a little. Such an attitude--I loved her..

Fenderskirts dedicated to Peggy.. "Showin a little ankle".

I say full length skirts with no wheel opening.

The bug style skirts may sound like a good idea, but for the most part, look wrong on real cars. I've seen it attempted a couple of times.

just wondering about the skirts full or ankle?[P

Not sure yet. I did stick a swoop cutout on the skirt, but it wasn't a 'right' curvie thing, so will keep working on it. I like the cutout sheetmetal look as much as the swoop. I've got a sheet of 14 ga. that I'm goin to cut for my lower hood/engine covers, and I'll trace the skirt and plasma cut a couple blanks when I cut the other parts in a week or two..

I want this thing to line back up in the 'rat' definition, and sheetiron skirts will head it more that way than the glass skirts I have. I do like the look though, and will skirt it no matter which I settle on.

I made a little visible progress this weekend, rough cut some side pieces for the tail and screwed them on to look at. Mostly I welded on the fenders-filling in and finishing them off and mounted them solid. I did some finish work on the front of the rear fender to allow me to use the rear door skin to tie in to the fender and the tail with the door. I didn't need to do it though as the skin looks pretty good just as a tail panel. That makes the front of the fender a little funky looking, but I'm needing to move to other issues, so will leave it 'funky'.

I keep hearing the Kinks in my head singing Lola, and Sunny Afternoon while I'm working on this car.

Something in the car and the songs fit???

The car kinda suprizes me when I walk into my shop.. I get this "What the heck is going on" "Who put this car in my shop" .. When I take a break--I sit and stare at it- and grin- Weird stuff-totally pleasant-but-I think maybe elves come in and work on it at night.

I don't do this kinda work--I build Dirt track Cameros, and Rusty Model Ts..

Thanks-E-Man-Yeah-I have a good time in this hobby/culture--goofin around thing. This is entertainment/relaxation where I allow myself a good deal of foolishness. (I might overdo it a little sometimes):p This is the 'comic' side of the comic/tragic thing we all do. I've got a pretty major dose of both.

I quit racing cause it got stressfull, and I don't do high $ Waxer cars for the same reason. Both bring out some of the worst of the car culture. "Rough hotrodding"--(Rattin) is the answer to that for me.

Tinkering in the shop--Cruzing the streets a little--jawing and joking around with cars as the main theme, are some of the best aspects of what we do, so I Tinker, jaw/joke, and cruze and generally goof around.. Squeeze the best outta this thing :) ..

I'm glad someone else hears these things in the shop! Sunny Afternoon is one of those 'groovin' songs where you can do the 'shop shuffle' 3 shuffles forward-1 shuffle back--Weld a little--do a half sholder dip--grind a little---Spin right --spin left--2 shuffles back.

Belt out a few favOrite verses.

"Girlfriends run off with my car,
went back to her ma and pa,
telling tales of drunkenss and cruelty.." (Go DEEEP there)

I'm glad there's no web cameras in my shop--a big ole fat guy dancin around in ragged sweats, and singing off key, wearing a welding helment, ain't really a pretty sight.

Groove ON!!

Help Me, Help Me, Help Me, will you Pleaseeee,!!! (Swoopin Deep there) :)

Now i'm sitting here
Sipping at my ice cold beer
Lazing on a sunny afternoon

Strange,i thought Brit's always drank their beer warm. Something to do with
Lucas refridgerators.

Ah, yes an old guy story! Listened to the Kinks every day for a week on a battery powered -RECORD PLAYER!- while paddling halfway across Mo in a canoe. :D

Does anyone know of any old movies that had a Speedster in it? I'd like to get some pics in action of one to show my wife they did exist.

Thanks
