Not to be mean or nothin, but don't ya think you could be a little more creative on the console?? Looks a little out of place to me.......

Fair enough, and yea I could be more creative, but I wanted something comfortable, and that has function, I'm not 100% sure I'm keeping it, but for now it will fit the bill. Once the seats are in and the filler panels are in, it will look more at home I'm sure.

With the overall theme of the build and the car back end, personally I would be looking for something in the 50's from a car or even something slightly newer that would fit the build better. I don't think the console will look awful, I just think it could look better. But that's just my opinion. Keep up the good work!

DR....ya just can't win...lol....

It's a rough draft....right??...yeah...a rough draft....mock up....that's it!!...leave the guy alone......he's deep in thought....;)

No biggie, I think when its dyed the color of the seats two tone it will fit in alright,
most of it will be hidden between the seats... like I said I'm not 100% in love with it but it fits the bill for now, and was super cheap.. I wanted a T-bird one, but people want too much money, we'll see how it turns out...

Given your abilities as well as your creativeness I have no doubt that the console will be just Fine.
Torchie.

My $.02 coming up...

I say swipe the lid and E brake boot, form a metal console close to the same diamentions but fitting the floor better then paint to match, dye the boot and lid. Maybe make the cup holders removable so they can be chromed...[P

Yea, it may happen where I decide it needs a custom touch indeed.;)

Anyhow, doesn't look like I made a lot of progress, but I did today.
I got the shift cable routed through the trans tunnel and looped around, the last bracket I need will be in on Monday so I can test the throw of the shifter after the modifications.
(The cable will be routed a little differently with brackets to keep it away from the header)

I also made the cuts to the dash to allow for a GM tilt column to reside where it needs to be, I took a piece of 4" water pipe and cut the shape and clearances for the column, and added flat stock to the sides where the column will bolt through... I'll be bracing the mount as well... At least this way when the steering shaft shows up I'll be ready to mock up the height and location of the column...

I ran out of energy, so the brake pedal assembly will have to get worked on tomorrow.

Gas & Brake pedal just about wrapped up

Looks like these should work out decently, took some measurements off my daily driver and got the pedals relatively close to what I'm comfortable with. I added a plate behind the gas pedal assembly to firm up the firewall, it will be a through bolt with the bolts tacked into the firewall.

The pedal is about 6-7" off the firewall before I depress the pedal, so that should be plenty of travel.

Now I'll be welding the brake pedal end around the shaft to pinch it down on the pivot shaft I have an insert lasered out that will fit in the open end. If its not super rigid side to side from the pedal assy to the pivot shaft I'll add a plate on the side and screw it to the side of the brake pedal as well which will tighten it up some.

Anyhow, on to the pics!

Shifter cable progress

I finally got the shifter cable bracket, and promptly cut it into pieces to make it fit.
I may have to clearance the floor for that and one area by the brake pedal pivot where the brake line runs up and over just to make sure nothing ever comes in contact with the body.

Anyhow, I think I have the shifter working pretty well, I might have to make some small adjustments on the starting position of the cable end, luckily there is an adjustment at the trans end.

Today I drew up some rings to attach the new hub caps to the baby moons.
I also worked on the A-pillar a bit to fill in the areas where the original hinges used to be.
Just threw some paint on some of the brake pedal parts, still have some more work to do on those before re-assembly, and still have to come up with a seal/boot to keep water out of the cab where the pedal goes through the floor...

Hopefully more tomorrow, but we will see, tax appointment tomorrow night.

Dirtyrat,
You have invented a way to put hubcaps on wheels that they don't come on,[cl and you haven't shown any pictures yet.:( I need those pictures, mister, because I haven't got a clue how to put some on mine.[S
Keep up the good work.[;)

I had Wheelsmith modify mine. What hubcaps are you trying to fit on what wheels?

If you jump back a few pages, I'm using Plymouth Valiant (60-63?) hub caps on Early Wheel wheels, which take the smaller baby moon style caps... I'll get some pics as soon as I have one mocked up...

Basically I'm going to add a ring to the back of the hub cap, and then center the baby moon inside that ring and tack weld them all together...

snopro, at the risk of pirating Dirtyrats thread I will explain what I want to do. I have fake artillery wheels,[ordinary Ranger pick-up wheels] with no way to snap a hubcap on them. I would like to put an older Ford hubcap on there. Possibly, I can get some spiders with clips sticking out. I think some Rangers had them but they are all broken and in the land fill now.
