I sold this about 4 years ago, now I'm getting it back. It was the nicest riding truck I ever owned and a pure joy to drive. The 390 was tired when I sold it and hasn't gotten any younger and now the flywheel gear is bad. I think I'll just park it until I can find a different drivetrain, like maybe an efi 460 with a 5 speed.

I originally bought this truck when I lived in Texas, had looked for a couple years and ended up buying it off the internet and going all the way to Yakima after it (like 2200 miles each way for all you guys who always think that good tin is too far)
I took a few months to put the trip together, got a 34 Ford going to Palmdale Cali. and a 63 Ford wagon from there to Spokane, got home $450 to the good and had to buy 2 trailer tires on the road. You just have to want it bad enough to make it happen.

Very nice. I'd drive a couple K for a truck that clean.
Maybe theres hope for me, i sold a 69 F100 after20+ years and kick myself ever since.
I can hope.
Again, nice ride [dr

My step father had a truck that looked like yours with a 460 automatic. I only drive 2 times as a young teen because my stepfather heard me talking about what great burn outs it would do.
Glad you got yours back.

Nice rare bump side! You don't see many crew cabs in those. A 460 AOD would make a nice hauler out of it. Power and mileage!:D

my 76 f250 with a 390/4bbl 4 speed and 3:73 gears got 13-14 mpg
I have a 460 bumped up to 10:1 compression with KB flat tops gets 9-11 mpg in a 1977 full time f150 4x4 with a c6. I'm rebuilding that truck as a supercab 4x4 and switching to gear drive tcase 4 speed and lockouts.
I have a hot running 350 chevy in an 86 dually gets 12 mpg highway and 6-7 mpg towing so a small engine dont mean small gas bill.

This one used to do 12 1/2-13 on the highway. It's also 3.73 gears but a 2 bbl.
Still better mileage than the 4 bbl. 300-6 I'm trading for it.

I'm driving a 2000 f150 2 wheel drive with a 4.6 and overdrive... I've been getting 19-20 mpg on the highway my 86 chevy diesel was getting 18 lol
