Good stuff Joe !!!!

yep, the table is like a time machine. before I would need hours and hours to plan all the hand cuts and it wouldnt be nearly as repeatable let alone as clean. now its about an hour in solidworks, 10 min in setup, one test run plas off and a for real run.

still learning silly mistakes, like on that first pedal mount it cut the circles first and then on the long outside cut the torch would shut off when it lost the arc in the circle. oops. but learned to just back up the code and start it again.

organized the shop AGAIN, its hard when it is just me unloading because I cant move heavy stuff 50ft willy nilly.

the yellow bed out of place is for bickle, so its up by the door when I need it.

used my eastwood bender to take up all that extra in the fuel lines and rear brake line. looks like they will rub together which is bad, but I put the plastic isolation clips back on and the frame clips too, so its all better now.

I finished the trans mount bracing and connected the exhaust again, so time for a cab fit.

fit really well, mounts look like they will do the job! the trans ALMOST fits, I trimmed slightly and need just a hair more, the body is actually 1/4" high right now resting on the trans, but I need to move it around a little so I will see how that helps.

should be more today!

not much done, replaced the bashed up cowl. door jamb was still out of line so I pulled it with some ratchet straps to weld in.

thanks burg an OI

funny thing, this truck was the last left out of probably 30 at waynes farm, all because of that cowl and door. maybe 10s or even a hundred guys had looked at it, and decided not to buy it because of the cowl. the door hinge I thought was broken was just the pin was worked out and after I soaked it in evaporust it is a tighter hinge than the one I got to replace it.

I guess my point is that no one wanted the truck at any price because of something that was fixed in less than 3 hours. probably a good metaphor for doing something thats been put off because of how ugly or impossible it seems...

happy easter!

pedal round 3

this one works nicer, great angles, pedal in right spot, firewall booster mount correct, booster to pedal in line.

but I couldnt get the dash mounts to line up. rather than farking with a "round 4", I decided to see if I could make a dash bracket and bolt it to the pedal bracket. I designed something from memory where the column needs to be

attachment.php

attachment.php

but it held the column to low and too far forward. memory failed me.

so then I tried a new method, a dash bracket that would hold the brake pedal mount in the right position, and would allow me to build the upper column mount.

good so far. had to cut the pedal mount back a little and this first one will need holes drilled, but once I do that I can add it to CAD and the next one will be cut correctly. the pedal mount is angled slightly because I dont have the 5 degree mount installed in the firewall yet.

that worked well so today I popped out the upper column mount, it bolts to the dash bracket and the pedal mount both, not to be a bragger, but if it were a rapper it would be MC Strongasheck.

notice that the center of the column is centered in the gauges, not the old column slot! I little tweak that I love!

so now I just need to tighten all these various brackets and drill the holes in the pedal mount and install the firewall booster mount, and THEN I can design the lower column mount. seems like excessive stuff but on the next truck it will literally take two/two and a half hours to CUT the parts, WELD the parts, and INSTALL the brake pedal and the column, DONE. putting my time in now to work out the bugs!

more coming!

That's impressive JD.

Crazy that the original columns aren't centered eh? I noticed that with mine and thought - seriously? Mine will be centered as well.

Looking good Joedoh. Gotta love a plasma table. It makes life so much easier when you can just knock something like your mount out in house.

Is that 3/16'' plate you're using?[cl[cl[P[P:cool::cool:
