The lower is press-fit but I believe I will also weld them. The upper is going to require some Machining to open up the hole in the sleeve I will probably have it machined tight to press in but they will also be welded
 
I will get some pictures up when I get home. We got the lower arms pressed today. I'll weld those up this weekend
 
I will well these guys up all the way around and put the bottom plates on this weekend along with weld in the screw in ball joint holder. Then next week hopefully I can get the machine work done on the uppers and I will send them off powder coat

Friend of mine did the rollers and hated them, said it made his car ride like a truck. He went back with stock rubbers.

Really? I guess it makes alittle sense. Your losing all the squish of the bushings. I'm trying to make the car handle. It's not a daily anymore. Well. I'll drive itnalot but it's not a Sunday cruiser.

No turning back now!

I will weld all this up slowly and then will clean it all up and start on uppers

He said there was no “ give “ other than the spring, so it felt like the front end was mounted solid, which it was. He said it felt great at the track, but he’s a driver, he’s probably put 100,000 miles on his car going all over the country on all kinds of roads. The rubbers didn’t send the impact of every pebble to the steering wheel.

For a limited driver, you’ll probably like it. He said he did at first, then it got old, and he was afraid it was destroying the unibody. So, first the rubbers went back in, then later he swapped in a Mustang II suspension.:eek: He is the kind that can’t leave anything alone, he’s always changing something!

I could see that. I also thought about mustang 2. We will see. Maybe I made a mistake?!?!:confused:
 
Like I said, try it, you might like it where my bud didn’t. Your Fairlane is a little heavier than his Maverick, so yours may feel different. Plus, you’re probably 30 years younger than he is, so not as many pains!

Just a suggestion, check the height of the lower screw in ball joints compared to the old ones.
Good: If they are taller it'll lower the roll center
Not as good: If they are shorter it'll raise the roll center, the change of the roll center will be felt in the corners.
 
I believe they are right about the same, but I could be wrong. I measured when I took them apart, but I could have messed up when I installed the socket. I'll screw one in tonight and show you guys. I'll see how they compair to original
 
You can do the Shelby drop and make it handle better. Two holes per side and it drops the upper control arms. Google it and you can probably find the template to use to get the holes in the right place.
