We dodged another bullet with ike here in South Florida but it's not looking too good for the Texas coast. Batten down the hatches over there folks.

Our prayers are with ya Tripper, looks like Ike is coming straight for y'all and they are saying it might be a cat 4 by the time it hits land. Stay safe!!

Hey Tripper, stay safe down there. I may have to call on you after this weekend if we dont hear from family there. Have a grandma and an uncle that lives in the richmond/rosenberg area. Hope they either come up here or buckle down there.

DUDES!!! Have u seen the size of that monster?!?!? We've dodged the bullet several times here lately but this does NOT look good!!! The old Tripper was on a quest this morning to scarf up mass quantities of 12 gauge buckshot & an even larger amt of 9mm hollow points. It was a little interesting to see which stores were doin' lots of business today. Our grocery stores, gun stores & liquor stores were packed. Ummmm... feel sorry for anyone breakin' into houses here in H-town. This is gun country & folks are not afraid to defend theirs! Got lots of food, booze & cokes so here we go. Internet service will probably go down but I'll try to post as soon as possible. Hope my cars don't get rusted!!!

Yeah... we're waiting for the big monster now. We cleane up stuff in our yard, secured our office & Mrs Tripper mixed up some Hurricanes to get a lil buzz on. Friends from Galveston are staying in our garage apt until the storm blows over & I cranked my generator up to make sure it's in good running condition... just in case! Got my fingers & toes crossed!

Glad to hear you are that far in.The surge itself won't get that far but kinda makes you sick about Galveston.

How is it when all the people evacuate, the only people left are news guys who stand on the beach, just so they can be blown down and do it again and again? I think if I was asked to evacuate, I would just get a camera and go to the beach. Those guys seem to pull through every time.

I think the news people are getting a little over the top with that reporting from the beach during a hurricane routine. It's going to end up biting somebody. Due to the nature of my job, I have to work during hurricanes. The last one that hit my area directly (cat 2 Wilma) was no fun to be out in.

Stayed up til 1:30 watchin' storm coverage but the rain & wind woke me up @ 5am. The eye is goin' over H-town rat now & it's hard to believe we still have elec. Hard to describe the rain... whoa!!! Lil hail every now & then & for a while I thought we were in a tornado... great way to wake up!

Ok Tripper, time for another update on ya!
Been watching all of the reporters that are in Houston and they are talking about the flooding and power outages....now brace for the outter bands of the storm, most of the time they are worse than the storm it's self!
Let us know something as soon as ya can!
