In the mid 70's I spend time in Germany on business. In an effort to develop cooperation I mentioned that I was mostly German. The Germans I was working with asked me where I was born and of course I said USA. They told me that in their opinion I wasn't German, I was American.

When I spent time working in Hong Kong the best place by far to hang out was a Kiwi Bar. Friendliest people in all of Hong Kong,
