Got a call from my daughter early Sunday morning. Not her usual morning cause she likes to sleep in. She was distraught and needed my help. Seems my grandboy was involved in a wreck Saturday night late. As ya'll can imagine it's not something you want to hear at any time. Good news is he is ok as are all the kids he had on board. One good thing! Bad news is the Toyota Highlander that he gets to drive by the grace of his mom is totaled. Seems a very large bear tried to beat him to the road he was traveling on. Don't know the bear's condition because he was nowhere in sight but I suspect he's laying dead somewhere in the woods nearby. Wiped the drivers side front quarter and all the front tin and plastic out. My pix are poor because I took them with my cheapo cell phone. I was glad that evidence led everybody to believe his story. Blood, hair and feces adorn the truck front end. Straight on pic shows the front damage, the close up of the front fender shows bear dung wiped down the side of the fender and I'm not sure if it can be seen in these poor pix but the tire shot tries to show the bear hair still in place around the tire between the rim and tire. I doubt the bear survived. Glad the kids are all free from injuries but there is some accounting that will have to be done with the boy. He just got his DL but has restrictions to legal driving hours which he was not complying with. The cops gave him a ticket because of that. He was also disobeying his mom. He's grown in size but still immature. I hate it for him cause he's just being a kid and learning the hard way. My buddy Jr and I loaded up my hauler trailer and went to get the Highlander and it's presently sitting at my place, probably for a while.

Well, that sucks for everyone involved, happy to hear no one but the bear was injured.

I slightly remember crashing Dad's car a couple weeks after I got my license. No one got hurt in the crash, and I drove the car home with a huge dent in the door. A lady pulled out of a parking place as I was going past her, she got the ticket.

My problem was, I wasn't suppose to be any where near where the crash happened. As you can see, almost 50 years later, and I haven't forgotten that lesson (dad has been gone for 10 years).
