Fun with fenders day...
Pass side is not too awful, some bondo in it and wheelwell shape is a bit off but easily fixable.
Different story for the drivers side one -not only is it beat to ratsh*t and rusty, but some bright bulb (not me!) cut 3 1/2" inches off the tail end :(
Rehab is underway...
First time I've put the rears on, plopped a tire in place for a clue as to how it will look when I get the real ones next month - The fender edge will need to be radiused to clear them, 30 x 12.50s

You seem to have a talent for this sort of stuff.:D We're so fortunate to have you posting your work here. The Packard is cool beyond words.

Thanks Bob, probably more like blind obsession than talent :D
The main thing is to keep moving forward, hopefully all the hard work matches the vision in the end...

Looking better already, needs more massaging yet but it's coming along - filled the fuel neck hole, no longer needed. Tomorrow I'll radius the wheel opening and maybe round the front edge of the fender like a Willys. Planning to make a very narrow running board just to brace the rocker panel and meet the fenders - probably trim the front fenders too, also similar to a Willys...[S

Cut a piece of 3/4" tubing in half and bent it to fit the new larger opening, also pulled back the rear edge so it doesn't look like it's biting the tire like the stock version. Welded a piece of 1/8" plate into the peak to mount the new cats eye tail light

While cutting out the "good" pass side fender opening to enlarge it, I discovered it's actually a piece of poo covered in bondo - not a shock really. Shaved it all off and ironed out some of the weirdness, mounted the other cats eye light and backside braces of both fenders.

Those wheel openings look great, that's a tremendous amount of work. To check for understanding - you cut a 3/4" piece of round tube in half and that became the wheel opening radius?

That's correct, I think it gives the lip a factory appearance plus the tubing I used is about 14 ga., so it's stronger than stock and easy to weld to the thin fender which is 20 ga. or less. Once the tubing is cut in half, it's really easy to shape, I just bent it over the front tire and fine tuned it over my knee.

Nothing but the latest and greatest shop equipment for our zz.[cl:D

Chose the 2 least thrashed front fenders of the 4 that I have and test fitted them, they still need repair of cracks and from other physical abuse. Also need to make headlight mounts, want to keep them low like this, not on the stock 5" high ones. Still pondering the running board situation.....[S

Made a new front valance (deflector?) for the grille shell to replace the mangled stock one, got the radiator mounted and made a filler piece for the top side of the rad, these 2 pieces will keep the air flowing thru the rad, not around it. Also adapted a pair of 40 Packard fender braces, I was missing the proper 37 ones but after a little slicing and dicing and they work fine. Also repaired all the cracks, tears and other messed up parts on the front fenders.
