No progress on the Dodge due to walking issues but I did manage some time on the boat. Did all this sitting down.
New screws and bolts installed in the knee joints. Post and SB side.
No more clamps.:D

You were supposed to be resting right?

This is my definition of rest smallfoot. I suspect it is much like yours.[ddd
It seems that the back/walking issues are due to my new custom made shoe. The sole is thicker then the old one so it created a height difference between the fake lag and the real one.
My Leg guy made the fake one longer so hopefully this will cure the issue. It will take a few days to work out the kinks.

It turned into a boat afternoon.

Since i had some help I cut and scarfed in the new keel end repair piece.
Started by routing off all the old chewed up keel area.
Then routed the new piece to fit. I used a couple of pieces of scrap on either side as sacrifice boards to give the router foot something to rest on.
The new piece will be bedded in with 3m 5200 and then some screws. Once cured I will run the router down the edge to cut in the rabbet to match the rest of the keel.
Lots of saw dust.
That's it for today..

Got the new keel pice bedded in and screwed together this afternoon.
Fits well and will on ly need a bit of dressing down at the forward butt joint.
It takes about 7 days for the 5200 to fully cure so it will sit till than.
At that point I will route out the rabbets. Dress down the butt joint and fully bolt it in.

I finally figured out the appeal of woodworking. ---- Somedays you're half-way to heaven just smelling the glue.

She's coming together, Torchie.
Keep up the good work.

Not even close to the old Tester plastic model glue Mac  [ddd

Enjoying following along. Nice work Torchie. [cl [P

Thanks Burgerman.:)

Spent the morning doing pure production work.
Milled all the 30 some Intermediate ribs for the new bottom.
These will all need to be steam bent then trimmed to length. Waiting for the humidity to break before I fire up the steamer.

The rest of the story..

Marked all the new frames for both location and length.
I use a cloth tape measure for this as it allows for the contour of the old frames.
You will notice that there is a frame 13-13A as well as a 14-14A.
These are back by the stern of the boat and are doubled up as that area takes the most beating.

Boating this morning..
Cut the rabbet in to the new keel piece as well as drilling the hole for the rudder shaft.
Also drilled the thru bolt holes in the new frames.
The keel is now ready to be bedded and bolted permanently in.
Maybe tomorrow.

Kind of wondered where the engines water pickup was on these boats :)
All your hard work is starting to show [cl:cool:
[P[P[P

The holes in the keel that you see are for the rudder shaft as well as the prop shaft OI.
The group of 4 holes if for the prop shaft strut..
The engine water intake will be a small screen like thing that will be drilled thru hull outboard of the keel.
One of the reasons that I repaired the keel the way I did was to not have to rebore the prop shaft holes as that takes a boring bar as well as not having to worry about getting the rudder shaft hole exactly measured as the original factory hole was still viaiblle from the underside of the keel for guidance.
