Chop Opinions - last time - (no, really)

Sam, I just had a huge brain fart. Should save you tons of work. Cut it all off. Roof, tops of all the doors, everything. Then put a chopped removable Carson top on it in any configuration you want Am I a genius or what?

    What's your budget?

ya, I gave up smoking, drinking, and women. Worst ten minutes of my life. I just finished a Harley shovelhead project. Took 3 years. Spent about $1,500./yr. So, will probably keep this same budget on my rod build. It's about 2% of my income. Seems kindof low to me. Have to show these figures to...

    Affordable?

    Affordable?

Knew this post would generate some discussion. Nice to hear peoples different perspectives. We're mincing words though. Still stand by my belief that the sum of $29,000. and the words affordable do not belong in the same sentence. Wonder what a 6 figure rat rod would look like?[;)

    Model A wheels

Thanks for the info. May be a case of form over riding function. Just love the looks of the old wires. Definetly wouldn't be doing any hard cornering. LoL

    Model A wheels

What would be the widest tire a person could run on a stock 17" model a wheel. Think these rims are only 3 1/2" wide. Suggestions?

    Body filler help

Hijacking the thread. I have used the alumalead in the past. I was wondering if anyone knows how it would holdup if left exposed. Kinda leaning towards the bare metal finish on my build.

    Know this car?

Ha, no build thread yet. I started on this thing 15 years ago. Been seasoning behind the shed ever since. I'll start a thread after I collect a few more chassis pieces and start working on the frame.

    gasser question

What's cool is, they kept that stance long after tire technology caught up. I still love that stance. And don't forget the engine setback.

    Chop Opinions - partII

Chop, section and pancake the hood on a 4 door torpedo back sedan. I'm exhausted just thinking about it. Look at the windshield sides where they start to curve back in, that will tell you how much to remove and give you the best fit when you drop everything back down. May save you a ton of work...

    Know this car?

Only pic I have of the body Cosmic. Still mucho chassis work to do.

    Know this car?

No prob on the hijack Cosmic. I'm liken your build. Very similiar to my 37. I started with a 4 door sedan also. Definatly a lot of car out behind the tires on these ones. I planned on running rear fenders and radizing them around the tires. Until I saw the car in this thread done fenderless...

    earthman's actual ratrod foto thread

I'm actually starting to dig these rods with car quarterpanels. Especially after seeing "atomic punk" All this thing needs is a stylized grill and a bubble top.
