never knew about the Olds engines

1955 - All new GMC Blue Chip light and medium duty models debuted mid-year, featuring many improvements in comfort and styling. V8 engines were offered for the first time, providing more power and smoother operation than the GMC inline 6s that were still available. The V8s used in light and medium models were built by Pontiac and the larger V8s in heavies came from Olds.

I promised a few photos so here they are.

Couple of engine pics

Pics of the taillight mounts I made. Had to match the curve of the taillight and the rear pan. Still need a little finish welding.

And you get to see my awesome garage which is so small you wouldn't believe the work that I can do in there.

First Test Ride and "Burnout"

And here I am taking the first test ride in my driveway. Brake lines were in but I haven't plumbed them to the wheels so this was kinda fun. E-brake was soft, need to adjust. Stuck the throttle linkage through the firewall, no pedal so sorta hard to control using a vise grip clamped to the throttle rod.

Enjoy.

Had to relocate the headlights upward 2 inches to accomodate the steering linkage and so it looked better.

Cut the grill down about 15 inches so the lights were a little too low.

Where I am at today. Not much left to do. Finish bed cover, finish hood, finish grille, new tires, wheels are painted and waiting, finish seats they are almost there just need to be covered, new glass, install dash and gages, etc.

Hope to have it ready for the Lonestar Roundup.

I built the seats, need to post a pic. Exact replica of a WWII Warhawk seats.

My old rims have been sitting and waiting paitently for about a year.

I think they look pretty good all paired up.

Sorry about the bar growing out of the bed, my wife snapped the photo.
