Rot repair

Finally made some progress on the drivers door. Welded in the 4 pieces for repairing the bottom of the door. I could not come up with a better way to do this with less parts. Too many compound curves. There is still a lot to do, folding the outer panel over the inner door flange and finish welding and metal finish. so far I'm happy with the results. Now if I can only get the rest of it right.

I hope the pictures help explain the process. It would have been a lot easier if the inner panel was available. but it wasn't. Now on to the passenger side. It's not in as bad shape but needs work. I'm not going to buy the outer skin for this side. I hope I learned enough on the drivers side to do the other with a little less grief. Thanks for checking in on me.[;)

Thanks Soltz. I worked on it a little bit tonight. It almost fits in the hole. It's a little twisted but I think I can get it into shape. The window frame is bent and that may be the reason it's twisted. When I cut the top off the door for the chop I may be able to get it back into shape. Oh well, I suppose it is 83 years old and was used hard.[;)

I'm learning to hate doors. Seems like every thing I do to a door causes a different problem some where else.

Looks good and you have it going your way.
Stay after it!!:cool::cool:[cl[cl

really smooth work .. they take it bit of work with multiple curves and shapes

Not as smooth as it looks in the pics. I worked on it some more tonight. The body lines match up but the gaps need some work. About 1/16 in the front and 1/4 in the rear. I'll bend the hinges a little to fix that. The door lines up better at bottom with a new bumper in the door jam but the top is still out too far. I'll think of something.[S[S[;)
