Thanks for the support guys. Nothing to report today. Plowed snow for a day and a half. I was so exhausted I was seeing stuff that wasn't there and misinterpreting what was there. I have to go in early tomorrow if I don't get called in sooner. With a little luck the next storm will be rain.

 stay safe man...

also, there are several kinds of mushroom available that will have the same effect without having to plow snow ;)

More rework

Finally something to post that looks like progress. Put the rear of the chassis back together. Lowering the top rails of frame 3 1/2" This will give me a little more depth in the bed. I cut it on a 45 degree angle so that there would be a longer joint for strength. Redesigned the panhard bar bracket at the frame moving the bracing to the outside of the frame. I also made the upper coil over shock brackets. I rough cut out four bracket plates and stacked them. Then finished grinding them to their final shape and bored a 5/8" hole through all four in the Bridgeport. Tomorrow the plan is to knock them apart and weld them on after machining spacers for the lower end of the shocks. There are a lot of welds to finish and then smooth.

Thanks FBP. The bug is a 1964 that belongs to a friend. It's in the garage so we can pull the motor and trans. The motor is great but the trans jumps out of 4th. Went to pick up another one today. We will pull it apart and go through it before we swap it. I won't happen right away. My buddy cut the tips of his right hand with a skill saw. He will be ok. He is left handed and a guitar player. it could have been a lot worse.

A little bit done today. I made the spacers for the lower shock mounts in the lathe. I turned and tapered and cut to length. They started out as spacers for the wheels that my cousin had for a pulling tractor. I think they came out pretty good for not being a machinist. I fit and weld up the upper and lower shock mounts to the axle and frame. The next project is building a gas tank and mounts for it.

Nice lathe work. Tapers are tricky, but there are ways. [cl
