Hi IR POPS

I would say dont chop more off the top but take a look at issue #11 of Rat Rod Magazine and look in the back section and you'll see a fellow from my neck of the woods (upstate NY) and he built a project similar to yours and he added a homebuilt visor on his Dodge Pilot-house from a old street sign and made some bends on each end and then a small bend in the middle to make it conform to the shape of the cab. It really takes the edge off of the high roof appearance that these trucks have.

Just a thought thats all and my smelly old 2 cents too.

Thanks DR and thanks for the lead on the intake. Is this close to your location?

The guy with the power wagon called and said he would go 2000. I'll bet I can buy that thing for 1500 in 30 to 45 days. Divorce spells need money bad.

Its local, but not super close to me about 1.5 hours I think to flint.

I hope you do get that power wagon, its making me really want to find one...

Skull- You may be right. I might have to put a dodge badge on it. Thanks.

I've already been asked "what the heck is it"!
Funny thing is that I hesitated and had to think before I answered.
Ha

Your new project is interesting. Hammer away!!!

Progress

I've been getting some time here and there.

Dash and guages in place.

Shroud put together and radiator set in place

Front axle plan in motion.

Brackets and gussets cut.

Front 4-link tacked in.

Rear brackets hung and waiting for 4-bar ends.

Air bags just sitting and waiting for the moment
of inspiration and ambition.

Contemplating front grille angle and height.

I really want to get this thing to the roller state
before the 1st of December. I have to have knee
replacement surgery and I'm not looking forward to it.
Been putting it off for a long time but the pain has gotten
to the point that I can't stand it.

Enough whining!!!

Here's a few pics.

dont know how I have missed this one until now.. looking great.. keep up the good work

I just noticed the updates from today, I think it looks stellar, I like the mounts for the front axle 4 link for sure! Everything is coming together quickly for you now!

What radiator did you end up with?

I know your 4 link is not conduit, but it sure looks like it in some of the pics HEH HEH!

That grille is mean too, and that is a cool idea on the steering link clearance to the frame.

progress

looking really good,

who's laser cutting machine?

be neat to be able to make your'e own brackets like that when needed would ROCK:D save a lot of fab time.

2 day truck build

Thanks guys!
This thing seems to be taking over my life lately.
That OK, I'm having all kinds of fun.

CORPO- Your build was part of the decision to go the direction I did.
Great looking truck!! GET ER DONE!!!

Dirtyrat- What? You don't think electrical conduit will work as 4-links?
The radiator is a Northern radiator. Hope it cools the 440.

Skull- Thanks. I bought the plasmacam for me for a retirement
present. Caught a little hell for the bride but she got over
it just like I thought she would. Ha!

I was completely computer stupid so it was a long precess
learning the system. It is really nice and its fast.
Here's some pics of a pick up and trailer for my grandsons
Two day build!!!!!!!!

Not a lot of progress but ongoing.

Got my rear wheels blasted and painted
New rear tires mounted 235/75R17.5s.
All I could find was a 16 ply.

Can't make up my mind on the fronts.
I'm leaning towards a narrower and shorter
tire for the front.

I think the rears are to big and heavy to run on the
front. Not to mention the fact that is hard to find 17.5s
and expensive.
I can run a bud style 16" wheel and have all kinds of
choices on front tire sizes and alot cheaper!

I would really appreciate some input and thoughts.
I want to get my tires and wheels figured out so I can get
my suspension done.

Time is running out for knee
replacement surgery on 12/10/2012.

Looking good Pops! I think a smaller tire is the way to go on the front, I like the staggered look better than the same size front and rear.

Those dual rears look mean!

Thanks for the input DR. That's the way I'm leaning.
Need to see what I can find for front wheels.
Your ride is looking great keep hammering!

Hey moparcowboy I appreciate it.
I have some pics of my chop that I will post. It worked out pretty good.
This one and one more will make two that I have done so it was a learning
Process for me.

I have a boat load of welding to do when I get it all put together the way I
Want it.
