Started working on the frame today. I’m still waiting on the suspension links and bushings and then I can really start making it all come together.

Transmission crossmember is built, threw the body back on the frame and started mocking up the suspension. Keep looking because updates are coming almost every day.

Got the front quarter elliptical brackets welded on and the springs mocked on the axle to see if I need to change anything or not. She sits pretty close to the front of the frame which is perfect because the wheel base is already long enough at 127”. Still waiting on all my 4 link bushings but got off the phone with the manufacturer and as soon as their next batch rolls out they’ll be shipped. Once the suspension is set up and I like it, I’ll move onto brakes and steering I think. Now before you guys go, “what about shackles to keep the caster angle correct?” Jumping up and down on the frame the springs don’t even move 1/16” so as long as I set my caster angle around 7* it shouldn’t go any less than 5* and any more than 9* under heavy suspension travel or braking. Tomorrow I’ll work on the rear quarter brackets and we’ll see how far I get over the weekend.

I've build shackle-less quarter elliptic front suspensions with a parallel link to make it a 4 link. The spring being one of the links. Had no problems with it.

I’ll keep that in mind Merc.

Anyhow, I didn’t like the way the front springs sat so I cut the brackets off and started to refit them to the frame but ran out of welding wire.

Life has been getting in the way of the build but I’m still alive and kicking. I was able to buy a 37 ford truck axle off a coworker for $100 so I’m ditching the f100 axle and gonna run it instead. That way, I can use the disc brake kit I initially bought for the Essex on this build. Stripped the axle down just the axle and spindles. I found the axle itself was bent and the spindles needed kingpins(not surprising) but I do have another bare early ford axle. So at the least, I was able to get an uncut wishbone. So I split the bones and once the parts I need get in, I’ll get the front end put together. I’ve also decided that since I had them, I’m gonna run the E-Ts(again initially bought for the Essex) on the front and I think some rocket racing injector wheels. Anyhow, I’ll try to keep everyone updated as best I can over the next few weeks/months and hopefully I’ll get this thing finished before my buddy’s A comes into the shop.

Finally got the parts in to put the front end together and see how the E-Ta would look. They’re gonna be perfect on this ride. I’ll have to pull them off again and actually polish them up but they’re gonna be killer.
